Napping check in

So, how's napping going for folks? How many and how long of naps are your LO's taking? Does it seem to be enough for them? What have you found most successful in getting LO to nap?
DD's naps are still very short-most are 25-30 minutes.  Sometimes I will get a 40-50 minute nap.  She is taking 3 per day most days, every once in a while she will take 4.  It is getting somewhat easier to get her to fall asleep as we are starting to get on more of a schedule.  She pretty much eats at the same times every day and goes to bed by about 7:30 every night so I am hoping the naps will fall into place better next.  She still needs to be held to fall asleep though.  She is pretty fussy and tired by the end of the day so I really wish I could get her to nap more.
Looking forward to hearing what's going on with others!

Re: Napping check in

  • LO takes 3-4 naps/ day. They range from 30min to 1h. I noticed that 2h of awake time seems to be the cut off. I think she is napping enough.

I put her in pjs for most naps and it signals "sleep time" to her. The afternoon nap starts on me and ends in the crib.

Her night sleep lasts about 12h (interrupted), so she is getting enough sleep, I guess.

  • DS naps 3-4 times a day, 2 of em are about 2 hours long and 2 are about a 1/2 hour long. The long ones are only in my lap, the short ones are in his crib. At night he sleeps from about 10:30 to 4:30 then from about 5 to 8. He's a good little pumpkin and lets us sleep - usually.

  • She only has one consistent nap. It's at 930 and it lasts about 30 minutes. She may take 3 other naps or she may not. Naps never go past 30 to 35 minutes.

Glad I'm not the only one with a cat napper!
  • DS naps after being up for 2 hours. His naps are 45 min to 2 hours long depending on where he is. He naps best on the swing or his carseat. He sleeps around 8pm and wakes around 4 or 5 to eat.
  • We seem to be going through a change - a welcome one after the 4 month wakeful.  She used to sleep 4x/day for 20 - 30 minutes each.  She was happy and healthy, so it was clearly enough (nighttime was 6 or 7 - 7, though still nursing multiple times/night).

Yesterday and today she's napping longer in the morning.  Yesterday was over an hour for her second morning nap.  Today's first morning nap got started around 9:30 (usually 9) and she's still asleep almost 90 minutes later.  So either she's moving to consolidating her naps, or she's feeling a bit under the weather from getting her 4 month needles yesterday.  Time will tell!

  • LO seems to be on the 2 -3 hours of awake time schedual and naps about 3-5 times a day. Naps last anywhere from 20m-2h and it is never consistent.  The only thing that I can count on is that she will be OVER tired if she is up more than 3 hours and it will be a struggle to get her down. If she is awake for 2 hours and I lay her down she will go to sleep on her own, if its over 3 hours, there is a lot of rocking and shushing and crying involved in the falling asleep.  She sleeps 10 hours of interrupted sleep at night, but no longer needs to eat a night (for the last couple of weeks, hope we can keep it up!).

  • DD naps 3-4 times a day for about 45min to 1h at a time. She is usually up around 2h between each nap. She's not the best napper and likes to fight sleep during the day. She sleeps well at night goes down b/w 7-730 and usually sleeps through the night until 7ish the next am. I'd rather have her sleep through the night and be a picky napper rather than the other way around- I enjoy my sleep too!!
  • I'm honestly not too sure because she's at daycare. :/ On the weekends, she typically takes two 1-2 hour naps. One in the morning and one in the afternoon.
