Sorry to be a PW today. Clearly, I'm updating my registry today...
I've read before that people avoid getting 4 oz baby bottles because the kids don't eat 4 oz for very long and it's kind of wasteful. Is that a MoM thought too? Would you just fill a regular 9 oz bottle with only 4 oz then?
Thanks again ladies!
Re: 4 oz baby bottles?
We bought 5oz Tomee Tippee bottles and still use them occasionally. We recently bought the 9oz size. You could definitely skip the 4-5oz size, but I found that many don't start measurement lines until 2oz.
Also, the big 9 oz bottles looked ridiculous next to our tiny babies at first!
Boy/girl twins born at 37w1d and 37w2d
We got 4 oz bottles and I don't regret it. I think it will be awhile before the babies are taking over 4 ounces (especially our baby girl as we're struggling to get her to take a full ounce at each feeding right now).
When DS was 8 months old, he stopped nursing and we switched to formula. At that time he took full 8 oz bottles, but in the afternoon he only ever seemed interested in 4 ounces. I used to use the smaller bottles for that feeding since I had them on hand anyway.
TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!
Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
Yes, I would skip them...spend your money on bigger bottles that you can use longer. My trips are 4.5 months old and we have been through with them for almost 2 months. We spent 20 days in the nicu, so they hardly got used. They are formula fed and always have been...if that matters.
I got the 4 oz bottles at a consignment sale because they were cheaper and to just fill in because I knew when they came home they would be on a 3 hour feeding schedule, which meant 24 bottles a day. To avoid dishes everyday we had about 40 bottles in the beginning.
I knew to skip them from my older kids and have NO regrets skipping them with my twins too. The babies were eating more than 4 ounces at a feeding by 2 months. I used Avent bottles and they have indicators starting at 1 oz. (maybe 1/2 an ounce?) They are also much better for pumping into if you have a good supply. With the Avent you need an adapter ring but not all do. And I didn't expect to be pumping at all really but that's just how it worked out in the end.
