Who else is going out this year to do some Black Thursday shopping?? I've been researching all the ads and deals tonight, trying to map out where to go and what I want. So far Kohls (PSA: their maternity will be 50-60% off!) and TRU are MUSTS. I like that Walmart will price match your layaway items with BF sales so I might do that and avoid that mess all together. I, unfortunately, have to work 3am-noon on BF. I'm yawning just thinking about it.
Re: Calling Black Friday shoppers!
oh those are good tips!
As for my shameless marketing I'll be doing 50% off for my first 10 shoppers at midnight (eastern) and 40% for the next 25 - and 30% off all day friday - jpogodesigns.net
As far as I know, YES!!! We put things for DD on layaway and now that we know what the deals will be we might go put more of those specific items on layaway tomorrow. When we asked teh associate who handled our layaway about it he assured us they would honor BF prices on things we put on layaway. Check out their ad here: https://bfads.net/Ad/Walmart-2012
ETA: Can't make it clicky.
Really!!! Hmmm, I think I will have to go and check out ours! I don't think I even needed/wanted anything from there, but dang if I can get them without the hassle I will stock up! Thanks!
I hate Black Friday especially now that it starts Thanksgiving. I feel this way for numerous reasons:
1. I worked retail for 11 years. Nothing makes you dread the holidays like working retail.
2. What about all those families that miss out on Thanksgiving because someone has to go into work at 8pm Thanksgiving evening? Thanksgiving should be spent being thankful for all our blessings in our lives, not working.
3. Along those lines, Thanksgiving now is turning into really the beginning of Christmas. Not in a good way.
4. Christmas is such a material holiday in so many families. I chose to teach our children about the true meaning of Christmas and to not get crazy with the gift giving/shopping.
With that being said, these are my Bah Humbug feelings. I don't judge anyone else that loves Black Friday
And I'm not saying that those that do don't care about Thanksgiving/Christmas--it's just how I feel.
Sorry if I just rained on everyone's parade.

Us, too!!! We decided to boycott all stores opening Thanksgiving day.
I agree with you full heartedly. I work retail and I'm pretty upset about missing out on sleep and extra family time. However, I must argue the point that because I'm focusing on one night of insane shopping with unbeatable deals that I have lost the true meaning of Christmas. Jesus is still a HUGE center point for us and although my DD is young we teach her as much as we can for her age. I agree, Christmas has become very commercial, but not completely in our household!
I'm going out with my 3 sisters and my mom when stores open!! Target will be our first stop!
It's awesome to be able to go early and not have to stay up until midnight since I probably will collapse by midnight if I am honest.
NEW PEANUT DUE 7.2017
I pretty much agree with everything luvmyducks said. I opened on Black Friday one year and I remember a) not being able to find a parking space even though I was arriving two hours before we (or any other store) opened and b) being terrified by the wall of crazed bargain-hunters basically pounding on our door.
That said, H really wants a bigger TV so if I can find a good deal on one (and not risk my safety to get it), I might chance the sales to go find one.
