Photo cards... where to order?

Where do you order your photo cards? Walmart? Shutterfly? Snapfish? Mpix?

Best deals?

Best quality?

We have a HUGE christmas card list, and everyone expects a photo of the babe, last year I cheapskated out and ordered from walmart - the mini photos (the 4x8 prints w/ 3 photo cards to cut apart) but they were sooo tiny. I want to do something bigger but don't have a lot of $. Any suggestions?

  • Costco.

50 cards in 5x7 size plus envelopes. Costs 15. They take one stamp. You can get them in matte finish so they aren't super glossy and shiny.

We used them for Gator's birthday invites.

  • I usually go to Sam's Club. The picture quality is pretty good and they're relatively cheap. I want to say I paid like $17 for 50 last year, but I don't really remember. I'm sorry :(

To save a bit, design a photo card on your computer and save it as an image. Then upload that to where ever has the best deal at the time. Print it as a photo instead of uploading a photo and using the site's special photo card layouts which generally cost a bit more. You can then buy cheap envelopes somewhere. I hope that makes sense. I usually price check this first those because there may be a good deal somewhere that makes photo cards cheaper by the time you get envelopes. Everywhere seems to have some random good deals that make the best place always changing.

Along those lines, I do that with my cards I order from Costco. I hate their already made designs. I just edit how I want, add words and everything right on the pic, and then save to desktop. After loading to Costco website I use the design that is only a picture and nothing else since I had already wrote everything on my picture.

I will check and see if I have G's invite to show you and upload it.

  • I just added the box and text in a basic photo editing program and saved it before loading to Costco online photo department.

  • I usually get mine from tinyprints.com. There are usually coupons you can find online. I have loved everything I have ordered from them.

  • I get ours from shutterfly when they have a 40 or 50 percent off sale. They usually have these a few times throughout November and early December. The quality is great. I think last year is spent about 30 dollars for 40 cards and envelopes last year.

  • I used to order from shutterfly or snapfish every year. Then last year I order from Walmart. It was way cheaper and the quality was actually better. I think I paid nearly half what I paid previous years!
  • Whoever offers the best deal/groupon/living social. I love Simply to Impress. The quality is amazing.

This.  It is literally the cheapest place that you can buy then, but the smallest amount that you can get is 50=however, that doesn't seem to be a problem for you since you have a big list.

  • We got ours from Walgreens last year and we were very happy with them. I took a pic of DS, uploaded it into the card and wrote a little message. The cards were ready to pick up with a hour or so. It was the first time I had ever used that service and I was thrilled with the result. It was about $15 for 20 I think.

  • Our local grocery store, Hyvee does them online. They are about .14 cents a piece and come with envelopes. They have some cards already designed but I always modify them or do my own. You can order online or they'll send them to you. hyvee.com

Oh and I always do Matte not glossy.

  • If you have a Costco membership you can get tinyprints for 20% off, and the other day Target sent out a coupon for Shutterfly $20 off orders $20 and up.  Last year I ordered through Walmart and was unhappy.  This year Costco updated their holiday card designs, so I may go through them.

  • This year I used tinyprints because I bought an offer for them from zulily ($15 for $30 I think?). They shipped yesterday - I'll let you know what I think of them when I get them :)
  • I use shutterfly. I've tried a few of the other places and I just have had better luck, quality wise, with shutterfly. They are a little pricier, but not too bad if you use a coupon code.
