Toddlers: 24 Months+

My 2yr old doesn't eat anymore...

His appetite has gone down....he used to be such a good eater. he doesn't seem to be sick. This has been for about a week that he won't eat very good.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

  • Mine has been like this off and on for about a month now. His previous pediatrician said it's to be expected when we took him to his 18 month check-up. He eats his lunch at school, but will sometimes go without eating breakfast or dinner at home. We cut out all snacks, except for the one he gets in the morning at school and don't offer his milk until after he eats. Once we started doing this, he started eating more. I did make a call to his pediatrician because he started gagging and vomiting everything he had eaten and then some when he would eat at home. She said the picky eating is to be expected at this age. Now he'll nibble at his food, but we don't force him to eat everything. Just another phase that will eventually pass!

  • No advice for you but my almost 3 y/o DD is a horrible eater. I mean horrible. She will eat junk all day but nothing healthy and sometimes skips lunch. No advice for you, just wanted to commiserate! GL!
  • My son started this around 22 mths and will be 4 in December and still hasn't gotten over it. He eats so little it scares me but doc says he's perfectly healthy (45% for weight and 92% in height) and nothing is wrong......I've tried everything no snacks, no special meals etc and he is so stubborn he still won't eat. plus he refuses pediasure so I can't even do that :/

  • My DD is 21 months and I say the same thing daily. She never eats anymore. She will eat a big breakfast; 2 eggs, yogurt and half a piece of toast with jelly then nothing snacks at lunch and barely touches her dinner.
