Putting up bumper and lowering crib

So I have a breathable bumper I want to put up now that DS is rolling and scooting around his crib. He's not pulling up yet or even getting into sitting position on his own so we still have the crib mattress at the highest level. But he does get up on his hands and knees every time he wakes up, so I wonder if he would start grabbing onto the bumper soon, and maybe we should lower the crib? What do you think?

Re: Putting up bumper and lowering crib

  • I'd drop it. My son only pulls himself to his knees but he's so tall, if he happened to make it to his feet and I didn't see it, he could easily topple out from the high position. Better safe than sorry.

This. We have the breathable bumpers, too, and DD does use them to pull up.

  • We dropped ours and it probably needs to go even lower since hs a long munchkin.. and we put a padded bumper in there because he kept banging his poor lil noggin... he is a wriggling demon and since he only naps in there when someone is awake  .. he still sleeps with me at night

    this!

I was thinking of putting padded bumper in for the same reason. But i just transitioned him from sleeping with us to the crib, and he is doing really well STTN in crib; but I am not sure if I should put the padded bumper. He moves all night, and usually wakes up because he bumps his head.

  • Man.. I don't want to lower it. It's already hard to lay him down without waking him up. Oh well, I guess we'll have to do it. He's already wedged a foot in between the slats. Thanks for the advice!
  • DS used the breathable bumpers to pull himself up and started to ruin them so we took them out. We also lowered the crib as soon as he started pulling himself up. It wouldn't hurt to lower it now.
