For those who are just starting the journey to identical twins and nervous about TTTS, I just wanted to share that in the beginning we were 7% apart and that grew to 8%, then 9%, then 10%. It wasn't enough to require intervention, but seemed to be slowly headed in the wrong direction. At 28 weeks, the gap narrowed to 1%, at 30 weeks it narrowed to 1/2%, and it remained at 1/2% at 32 weeks. Sometimes I wonder if it was just measuring accuracy at those smaller sizes, but who knows.
At 33 weeks, they are both estimated at 5.5 lbs, great fluid levels, and lots of movement. I thought others might like to hear that the discordance measurements sometimes improve later in the pregnancy.
Re: Identicals/TTTS
I think it always just depends and you never know how your individual pregnancy will go, but to share mine - I have had a similar experience of the discordance narrowing the further along I get...
17w - 10%
21w - 15%
25w - 5%
29w - 4%
I was extremely worried following my 21w u/s but now they are doing great, I hope everything continues that way.
