Cereal twice a day

Hi!  Baby girl has been on oatmeal at night for over a week, and she LOVES it.  Daycare keeps asking when we want them to give her oatmeal in the morning as well.  Anyone have advice as to when we should start cereal twice a day?  or is it not a big deal at all and I'm overthinking it... Big Smile

Re: Cereal twice a day

  • Our pediatrician started my son on cereal 2x a day from his 4 month appointment (actually he was a week and a half over 4 months) BUT he was 21 1/2 lbs at that visit (mind you he was 15lbs 4oz at birth).  Today he went in with my other son and while my husband was talking to her she told him to start our son on fruits and veggies too.  This is our 4th and it is the earliest we have started all the foods, but he is by far the biggest baby too.

  • My doc suggested at her 4 month appointment 1 week of cereal 1x a day then 1 week 2x a day and then try adding on different veggies and fruits every three days.  It seems to have worked well she is now 5 months and a week and has been eating cereal and a veggie or fruit 2x a day. I'm not sure if I will bump it up to more than 2 feedings a day for awhile, she seems content and still consumes about 25-30 oz of formula a day.

  • we've been doing cereal once a day for about a week- LO still seems to be trying to get the hang of it, some days he likes it and some days he doesn't...

How much cereal are other ladies serving per feeding??
