I went for my CD 7 ultrasound. There were a lot of small follicles on the right side and so many on my left side that they could not see my ovary. I am not sure if this is a good thing or not. They are having me continue Follistim for 2 more days and I go in for another ultrasound Sat. morning.
The tech was a little concerned of overstimulating since there are so many small follicles. She said she thought the doctor would recommend IVF if this cycle does not work. She sounded pretty confident that IVF would work for us since I produce so many eggs. I just don't have an extra 15K sitting around...
I am just wondering what others experiences were? If you had a lot of follicles did only a few mature? Anyone have too many mature? I am terrified of OHSS. Thanks.

Re: For thos who are experienced with injectibles...
I have always been on the low dose of 75iu, so while I'll get 3-5 on each side, there are usually only 2 lead ones.
This last, successful cycle I did lose hope because at my 2nd monitoring apt my follicles had not grown or had shrunk. And then 2 days later when the NP was having trouble finding them I asked if there was anything I could do/shift position to make it easier for her to see that side, She had the nurse push on my abdomen and up popped the missing follicle that my RE hadn't been able to find two days before. It hadn't shrunk and in fact was mature and ready to go. So maybe they just need to apply pressure to make sure they are seeing everything on the crowded side?
In the end I had an 18 on one side and a 19 on the other when I triggered. The next closest was 14, 10, etc.
GL!
Generally, I think only a few mature.
I'm a slow responder so I typically have a lot of small follies (10+) in each ovary for a number of days. This cycle, things didn't start growing past 10mm until CD15 and at that time I had 2-11mm, 2-12mm and probably 12 follies less than 10mm. By the time I triggered 4 days later I had a 19, 18, 2-14 and 4-6 that were less than 10.

TTC #2 ... Cycle 1-3: IUI = BFN | Cycle 4: IVF ... canceled but 3 snow babies
Cycle 5: FET .. BFP! | EDD - 3/15/2014
I agree. I always responded well on 75 iu of Gonal Fwith IUI. My doctor put me on 175iu when starting IVF. I was worried about OHSS but I think it really does take alot to get to that point.
Good luck.

I will say my first month on Follistim I was a slow responder. It seemed as if there was a lot of little follies and that they were hanging out at about a 12, for 2 u/s's, then finally got one to a 14 they upped my dosage and got 1-3 close to 18-20ish and triggered me. The next month they put me at the higher dosage and things seemed to move more on track. I don't know if any of that helps, but hopefully you will get 1-3 follies to pull ahead. I always had lots of extras, but they were deemed "too small for ovulation".
Don't worry about OHSS, it is rare and you don't let yourself stress out over it!
