Thursday Confession

My dad has been married three times. First, my mom. Second, the woman he cheated on my mom with. I was too young to realize that she was the cause of my parents' divorce and I loved her so much. She was an alcoholic but I suspect Dad was also cheating on her with #3. Third is his current wife.

Current wife and I have never gotten along. Dad and current wife have two kids, B (15) and A (12). My sister overheard B telling A once, "Dad was married before. That's where Fianschneid and her sister come from." I don't believe Dad and #3 have chosen to tell B & A about wife #2.

Wife #3 is a bizzo. B is an entitled brat who gets more entitled and bratty the older he gets. I have fantasized many, many times of letting it slip that this is Dad's third marriage and throwing everyone's world into a tailspin. I haven't done it because I'm an adult who knows better but when they p!ss me off, I always feel one step closer.

Re: Thursday Confession

  • I suspect they will find out at some point, but it is probably best it doesn't come from you in anger/annoyance. Maybe do what I do at work when I am irritated. I write what I want to say to person x in an email to myself, then I delete it.

I have a confession. I usually/always do bathtime and bedtime. A lady from church invited me to go to a women's circle last night and I accepted even though I didn't really want to spend the evening with a bunch of women as old as my grandmother, I just wanted DH to have to get DD ready for bed. I know he should do it more often and I shouldn't have to arrange an outing for it to be done, but we got into this routine when he was working evenings, and will be in it again when he is in school. I sometimes also pretend I have to poop right as bathtime starts so he ends up taking over. It always works out better when I trick him then when I ask him to help and he doesn't want to. So that is my confession, I use poop and old ladies to get out of bathtime.

    Lol love this.

I went to starbucks twice yesterday for venti decaff pumpkin spice lattes. I am justifying because I have a sore throat and sinus junk. I am sure a hot unsweetened tea would have done just as good of a job on my throat but pumpkin spice is so much better. Also, the nearest starbucks is an hour away from me so this played into my decision.

Confession 2 I slept in until 8:40 this morning. I am also using this sinus crap to justify it.

  • My MIL thinks we all think she has been married three times but we all know it is four times. I went to Target last night looking for more turkey hats and came home with twenty dollars of Christmas candy.

  • Can I ask a stupid question?  Why does it matter how many times your dad has been married?  Meaning, why would that throw them into a tailspin?

Fair question. There is overlap in the timing of my dad's relationships. He met #2 while married to #1, same with #3. It comes down to finding out your parents aren't who they've said they are. Their romance began while he was married to someone else but their kids think he was free and clear between 1983 and 1993.

It is catty and none of my business, which is why I keep it to myself and will continue to do so but they are high and mighty people who openly judge others and I would occassionally like to point out how imperfect they are.

  • Ehhh, I say let it slip. Perhaps over Thanksgiving dinner, "hey Dad, how is wife2 doing? Have you spoken to her?" See how it goes over.

My confession...DH and I were in agreement that we were against the flu shot. Then I read some stuff on here and spoke to our pedi and I second guessed myself. I told DH we were all getting them and made him get one. The kids got their first round a few weeks ago and I go today for mine. Lame confession but I hate when others feel strongly about something and then suddenly change their mind and I did that. Fingers crossed we all stay flu free!

  • Maybe I'm just not super-judgey of my parents, but I could see this being spun in a whole different way - if your dad and SD had done it without hiding it.  Kind of along the lines of "when you meet the right person, you just know, and it really opened my eyes that your mother was the love of my life, and I obviously didn't know love could be so amazing before I met her."  But again, this would work if they hadn't been hiding it, because the mere fact they've been acting shady, makes one believe there is something shady going on.
