What developmental milestone do you most look forward to?

Which developmental milestone do you most look forward to? Which one do you kind of dread?

I am really looking forward to her being able to sit up unassisted. It will make playing SO much easier, I think, and she loves to be upright and has since she was teensy.

I'm dreading her being mobile. I like that she is roughly where I put her if I put her down and have to leave her alone for a second :)

  • I'm looking forward to her calling me mama and actually understanding what it means.

I'm dreading her being mobile too, our poor cat and dog aren't going to stand a chance! And babyproofing, so many electrical chords!

Even a minor event in the life of a child is an event of that child's world and thus a world event.

  • Loading the player...
  • Waiting for the belly laugh!  She still does the silent laugh most of the time.  She will giggle a little and make the dinosaur sounds, but no belly laugh yet!
  • I am looking forward to him being able to crawl...crazy i know. BUT he is a pretty fussy baby and needs to constantly be held or entertained. I love the cuddles but i also need to get things done. So it will be nice when he can move around, sit up and entertain himself.

I can't say there is anything i am NOT looking forward too. I am not a huge newborn fan. I really love the toddler stage actually. I think my 2 year old is hilarious, he needs me but is pretty independent too. Its fun:)

  • Talking. I cant wait to hear what goes on in the little brain of hers. If her personality is like her daddy, she will be saying some off the wall stuff.

  • applying to college and living on her own.
  • I'm also looking forward to the sitting up unassisted.  She loves to sit now and I think she will just be psyched when she can do it on her own.  I'm also looking forward to talking.  I think it will be so much easier when she can at least somewhat articulate what's wrong!

I'm not looking forward to crawling/walking.  I also like that she stays where I put her now and that we don't have to worry about her getting into stuff.  Our niece was all about the buttons on my BIL and SIL's TV -- not really a way to babyproof that....

  • I'm looking forward to pretty much everything! My first son turns 2 today and I have enjoyed each stage more and more. Most immediately, I'm looking forwards to sitting up unassisted. It'll make playing with both kids at once much easier.

I guess the only thing I'm not really looking forward to is the "no" stage. It's pretty much my toddlers favorite word these days. But overall it's still much better than the newborn stage.

  • Talkind and first steps. Also my second son was "kissing" me - when in a good mood and picked  up he would open his mouth really wide and try to kiss/byte me.It started at about 5 months... I think that was his idea of expressing love to me. I hope my DD will do the same, so cute!

  • Well, there is LOTS I am looking forward too!

Right now I am looking forward to her sitting up on her own because it is not so far away.

But definately her first words and steps will be exciting!

  • His 21st birthday.

Seriously though, I am looking forward to him talking, and walking too.

I am not looking forward to teething.

  • I'm looking forward to him sleeping through the night (5 hours straight on a regular basis would be awesome).

I'm dreading pulling up and walking.  I feel like our house is dangerous at every turn!  All I see are bookshelves that can topple (and even when secured can be climbed or have books pulled off), sharp corners on tables, and dog hair which he will likely pick up and put in his mouth (our Roomba broke and this prospect has us seriously considering shelling out the cash for a new one so the floors will get vacuumed daily).

I am so with you on that.  I never noticed before that we live in a death trap.

Looking forward to pretty  much everything else.  (Even the walking, I'm just dreading needing to clean the house.)

  • Sunshine, hello.
  • I can't wait for her to talk, right now I can't even imagine what her voice will sound like. Not looking forward to toilet training, though it will obviously be worth it in the end!
