*UPDATE* To "so confused..please help"

Hi ladies,

A few days ago I had posted about the probabability of having a miscarriage. Well, I'm still 99% sure that is the case, but when I had my blood work done on Tuesday it came back FANTASTIC. My bleeding (although heavy for a while) has stopped and my cramping is much better. They rechecked my levels this morning and I'll know more tomorrow.

Basically, if my levels go down they know it was a miscarriage. If my numbers go up, there is like a 1% chance for a viable pregnancy. In that case, I'll have a repeat u/s next week to see if anything has developed since my 1st u/s was way too early. To be honest, I am pretty convinced that it won't end well, but I guess crazier things have happened. I am also still really sick and have all my 'symptoms' of being pregnant...anyone know if that's normal with a miscarriage? Does it take a while to go away?

Thanks for all your support!! I'll update tomorrow with my bloodwork.

A little bit about me...

  • Well, I can just tell you what happened to me, but I want you to please take it with a grain of salt because each situation is different.

When I miscarried in August, I actually had great bloodwork. My symptoms worsened, I thought everything was going great though I had some little to medium bleeding. It took a few days for it to all be determined that indeed, the pregnancy wasn't viable. It takes the blood a few days to trigger correctly because sometimes your body doesn't recognize the miscarriage already happened. The symptoms for me increased and were the worse they'd ever been before they just disappeared.

But, my friend went through THE EXACT SAME THING, and her baby turned out fine. So please, don't take my situation as the only way it can pan out.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, I know it's stressful when stuff like this happens.

Thanks!! Yeah, I am honestly assuming that my situation will be like yours. Of course, I would be THRILLED if it's the other case. But, I have made peace with the fact that this one wasn't meant to be yet. I prayed about it, and it's in God's hands now. I just wish I knew for sure...

I think the not knowing is really the hardest part. When I had my last ultrasound, as weird as it sounds it gave me a sense of peace. I wasn't scared that I was hurting it anymore or making things worse.

You've got the right state of mind. Whatever happens, good or bad, was beyond your complete control and there's nothing you could do.

Fingers crossed for you, I hope you're the 1%!!

  • I am sorry. The waiting and the not knowing for sure must be excruciating.  Thinking of you and hoping for a great outcome.

  • Everyone is different, like so many other members have said. I just miscarried August 22. One of my initial symptoms that something was "wrong" was that I started feeling better, no nausea. An ultrasound confirmed no heartbeat at 9 weeks and labs revealed my beta HCG levels were decreasing. It took 3 weeks for the actual miscarriage to happen, but by then all of the other symptoms were gone. I would say still feeling pregnant is a good sign.

  • I really am hoping all the best for you.

As for your symptoms if indeed you are having a m/c, I'm not really sure b/c my m/c was around 12 weeks, so in theory it was normal that my symptoms went away.  My guess is, if your hormonal levels are high, that may be the reason for your symptoms.

  • FX for great bloodwork and a perfect ultrasound! I'm so sorry you're going through this!
