We finished our childbirth education classes this week. The final class consisted of having us try out a lot of different relaxation/pain management techniques for labor. I was wondering, did you use them and find them helpful? I can see us trying them so I'm hoping that we'll remember them in the moment.
Re: Did you use the techniques taught in childbirth class?
The only ones I was able to use were the breathing techniques.
Since I went in w/ my water broke, they really didn't want me walking around.
And I was hooked up to monitors, but it was also 6 weeks early.

We used the breathing techniques a little bit. I went in with my water already broke, and they needed to get fluids and antibiotics in me, so there wasn't a whole lot of out-of-bed time when I got in there. But until I got the epidural, and then when it was time to push, we did the breathing exercises.
The one thing that really helped during pushing though? A popsicle. No joke, it was like the most refreshing and energizing thing I'd ever had at that point!
My water had already broken and I was on pitocin, so I wasn't able to move much. The contractions weren't horrible before I had the epi (but I have a high pain tolerance) and I ended up with a c-section. So no, I really didn't use any of that.
