Cart Before Horse - Names!

So in prep for our 4th IUI and (if needed) IVF in spring I've gone back to thinking about names lately. I'm thinking if I try to hop on the "possitive thinking" bandwagon by having names it might help. Strange, maybe but that's what I've been thinking lately.

So who wants to play "Cart before horse"? What names do you like for your future phantom children?

My husband has taken years to get me on board with naming our first girl after his grandmother who passed away over a decade ago (thus I never met). So if we ever have a girl her name will be Stephanie Abigail (I got to pick middle name). If we happen to have a second (twin?) girl her first name would be Brianna but can think of a middle name that I like.

For boys, we'd name the first Justin Patrick. DH and his dad both have names that start with a "J" and I like the idea of sticking with the pattern.

My mother asked that we name our children something that is German or Irish to show my heritage since my married name is so Polish so we've joked that we'd name a boy Adolf Sheamus LOL. OBVIOUSLY, we'd never do that. But dh and I still talk about a future son as that name (when we're alone or around my family). But in all seriousness I think if we had a second (or twin) boy we'd name him Ethan to appease my mother.

I'll play!

Our first boy name is already taken care of-- DH's family tradition that he is putting his own spin on. The name is Joseph Douglas. It's a combination of DH's dad and stepdad's names, and both of our dads and grandfathers(and DH) have Joseph as a first name.

As for another boy...... Who the heck knows!

Girls is another story.....we made a list forever ago when we first got engaged and now we hate all of them! It probably had something to do with the wine we were drinking that night! lol!

Olivia has really grown on me, but my SIL already used it. But I still think its a great name!

Oh my gosh, totally have names in mind. I have a list on TB (obviously it isn't shared b/c that would be a little too crazy!). I probably have like 10 names each for a boy or girl that I just love.

The middle names are set for sure - Harriet for a girl (DH's grandmother who he adored) and then either Robbins or Davis for a boy (family names on DH's side).

My family is really small and didn't really have any fabulous names, so there isn't much we can carry over. With that said, I love Georgiana or Caroline for a girl, which would be different versions of names in my family (my grandpa was George, and my Mom's middle name is Carol).

With that said, there are so many names I love that have nothing to do with family. DH wants a "strong" name for a boy, and I'd like something classic for a girl.

When we were KU I started really thinking of names. What girl doesn't when they're younger?

for boys I really liked B names for some reason: bennett, bowen, beckett. I think they go well with our last name.

i have no idea for girls? I like boy names for girls, which I may get flamed for. bryce, riley, tanner. i don't know!!

My DH and I always thought about names when we started trying. I love the name Clara Ann after my great aunt, I also like Marcella (Marcy) Ann after my grandmother.

Boy names are a different story DH and I never come up with any we agree on. I like Zack and Tripp. He likes Ray after his dad, and Tex (not going to happen!).

Boy - William Levi, Levi Carson (Will go by Levi)

William Levi is both of our grandfathers' names. Carson is a variation of Carlton, a man who was very special to me when I was younger who passed away.

Honorable Mentions: Jackson (nn Jax/Jack), Sam, James (both my step/adopted dad's and my bio dad's name so good and bad association with this one)

Girl - Emory Rae, Emory Rose (Will go by Emory, nn Emmy)

Emory is my grandmother's maiden name. I like Rae, DH likes Rose. Maybe we'll go with Lynn after his mom.

Honorable Mentions: Jillian. There aren't many girl names I'm in love with.

Boys:Gerald (after my dad)

Keep in mind DH is Italian and my family is as Irish as they come (interesting mix)

Girl: Daniella Sophia (call her ella). We also like Victoria Sophia.

Boy: Antonino Joshua (DH's fam would call him Nino, my fam would prob call him AJ)

Ooooh I love this game!

DH promised his mother that he would name his first child after her father who had a very Russian Z name. So for a boy we are settled on Zachary Abraham the middle name if for my grandfather. Girls names are harder, my cousin has a daughter named Zoe so that's out but I like Zara and Zinnia middle name may be Mae, Abigail or Ruth.

We can only agree on a boys name: Drew Steven. Andrew is his dad's name and Steven is my dad's name so we just combined them, but since I'm not a HUGE fan of Andrew (maybe just because of its popularity), we have agreed on Drew, which I love.

As for girls, who knows. The middle name will be Reese. My name is Theresa and growing up my family always called me Reese and for many years, I wished it was my real name, lol. We have thrown around Mila and Niya.

OH I love this game!!! I have always loved the name Jacee for a boy and now that the show Duck Dynasty has come along my DH brother has always decided he loves that name so I am little nervous as to if I will get to use it. The other boy name i have always loved is Wyatt!!! For girls I am little lost but I do like the name Abby alot

I love Olivia!! Such a nice name!

We haven't agreed on a name yet but for a girl I like the names Lena and Kenya and for boys I like Chad and Justin. Haven't thought of middle names for any of them.

For a boy: Dylan, Ethan, Logan (with Todd as middle name - DH's middle name)

For a girl: Emma, Olivia, Abigail (Abby) (with White or Lynn as middle name - family names)

Fun game! We both tend to like slightly more traditional names, however our traditional boy name has become kinda trendy. We like Jack for a boy, it's sort of a nod to my grandmother because that was her father's name and she and I were very close. And the middle name might be H's dad's name, Thomas. But it's just an idea, we definitely aren't committed yet. For a girl we like Lillian, Abigail, Jocelyn, and several others that we've written down over the years.

I love Emmalin Suzanne for a girl, middle name after my late MIL who passed away a year ago from cancer. So Suzanne will be used in some way shape or form.

Boy I like William, Drew, Wyatt

I always feel a ton of pressure when I think about this anyone else? There is a lot of pressure when naming your kids and I am not even KU yet!

For a girl we set aside Roslyn Ava. My grandmother's name is Roselia and we wanted to play on that. I love love Ava, Anya, Aria.

For a boy I really like Angel Roman - Angel is his grandfather's name. DH is not completely on board with this yet. For a boy I really like David, however, it is so common with our last name.

I informed my husband even before we got married that our first son would be named Samuel Richard. I have always like the name Samuel and Richard was my grandfather's name who I was very close to.

For a girl, I'd go with Olivia Lauren. Again, really like the name Olivia and Lauren is after someone who was like my little sister who passed away at a young age from cancer.

I was named after an aunt who died at 13 days old from a serious infection. It was always cool knowing I was named after someone, so I want that for my kids too...

For boys, we like Jack Douglas and Carter Henry (Douglas and Henry being family names).

For girls, our favorites are Lola Jane (though Lola is kind of a guilty pleasure name, we both really do love it), or Elena Catherine (nickname Lainey).

For a boy I like Gabriel (part of my maiden name that is dying out with all girls in my generation on my dad's side) or Paul (my favorite grandfather's name). For a girl, I never picked anything out. I have a hard time picturing myself with a girl because I loathe pink, frilly, princess-y stuff. (I know that's not required but it's so in your face that it's hard to avoid). Clearly I would be thrilled to have a kid whether they were a boy or a girl. But if we end up pursuing adoption I know we would want a boy for sure, no question about it.

I read a couple of baby name books from the library when we first started trying, but after a few months I got discouraged, and now after a year and a half I don't let myself think about it anymore.

DH and I spent a long time trying to figure this out. For a boy, we decided on Nathaniel David. David is a family name and the only one of my brothers who has a child (so far) opted not to use it, so I was very insistent that DH and I use the name somehow. We had the worst time trying to agree on a girl's name because DH did not like anything I did. We finally decided on Amelia Marie. Marie is his mother's middle name and was his great grandmother's first name. If we ended up having identical twins or two children of the same gender, we'd be in trouble because it took us the longest time to come up with those two names.

Same here, I absolutely love that name! And I also love it shortened to Liv too, which you know her friends would do when she gets older.

Love Liv! Our top girl name is Olivia, followed by Scarlett and/or Violet. Top boy name is Henry (hubby's pick) and Dean (my pick).

I'm a little late to the game, but love the idea! Had fun reading all the names too.

For a girl we like Elle for sure (we've been talking about "Elle" like she's already real for ages, haha). Not settled on a middle name yet, but thinking maybe Marie after my sister's middle name. Oh Elle Marie Huber, I hope I get to meet you one day... Crying

We haven't agreed on a boy name yet. I like Ethan, Devon, Mason...all a little too popular though. DH isn't a fan of these really. Boys are tough.

But oh my, didn't even think about if it was twins! Especially since there is a big chance we'll be doing IVF now. Yikes, need to think of more names!

For boys we like: Blake, Dylan, and maybe Leo (Dh's grandfather who raised him)

For girls: Blake (I like boys names for girls), and Leah

We had settled on Caterina Anne for a girl, after DH's mom and grandma, but lately MIL is on my last nerve (Really, you think it's okay to send me constant anti-abortion crap when I can't even get pregnant?! Especially anti-Pill stuff that implies that I can't get pregnant because I was on the Pill. I haven't spoken to her in two months).

Anyway, I'm a big fan of traditional family names, and my kids have to have patron saints (I'm Russian Orthodox). So I could also go with Natalie (Natalia), Elizabeth (Elizaveta), or Michael, which are my siblings' names. DH has vetoed Daria Scarlett and Nadia Violet, which were my favorites for a long time. If we had another boy, chances are we'd go to my side of the family and settle on Robert Michael (after my dad and brother).

Ugh, I just wanted to say I'm so sorry about your MIL. Yeah I wouldn't name anyone after her. I like your other names! DH is a Jr and said he'd never let a Third happen because he hates that his father opened all his mail growing up. But I think a Fourth is cool!

I'm so late to the party, but I loved reading all the names! I've been set on our girl name for years now- Cailynn Sonia (Sonia is my mom's middle name). We've thrown around some boy names but we don't have one we love yet. We discussed Nolan and Hayden. I've always really liked Caden but it's too close to Cailynn so we wouldn't use it. And since I've read 50 Shades, I've kind of become obsessed with the name Carrick Embarrassed

Boys: Roman, Silas, Noah, Alexander, Tristan, and Dexter. James for a middle name, then my maiden name for a middle name

Girls: Carys, Scarlett, Ophelia, Violet, Lily, Taryn, Shea, Evangeline. No middle names yet but any of those work.

Girl: Elena Pauline. DH's mother's name was Pauline. She passed away three years ago and we always wanted to use her name as a middle name.

Boy: Christopher Joel, (my dad's name reversed, his name is Joel Christopher)

We haven't really talked about twins names for the 2nd baby's name, but for sure one of them will be either of those two names

I'm guarding the name of our phantom girl but her middle name will be Erin. Our phantom boy name is Lochlan Sayre, or Lochlan Turner. DH goes back and fourth on the middle name(I prefer Sayre), but we at least agreed on the girl name.

if we end up with twins of the same sex, we will have to cross that bridge when we get there!

For a girl I love either Elizabeth Claire or Elizabeth Cora. I have always loved the name Elizabeth (I think it comes from my love of Pride and Prejudice)

For a boy I am pretty set on Colin James. James was my father's first name and he passed away about 5 years ago.

I haven't gotten DH's full commitment to the names yet - but he likes them.

FIL's name is David... Also, it's part of my maiden name.

Leah Jo (girl)

My mom's middle name is Jo.

We've not discussed names very much tho. We'll probably change our minds a million times.

I'll be honest that, as time keeps passing by without a baby, I get frustrated b/c I feel like people we know are using up all the "good names". I mean, we can't name our kid the same name as someone we know!

And question for you ladies. Would you ever name your baby the same name as an ex-boyfriend? I love the name of my ex from college (but clearly don't love him!) - it sounds great with our last name and it happens to be DH's godfather's name who he's close with. But is it tainted b/c of the ex thing?

I love all of these names We think alike.

DH and I discussed names years ago and "decided" on Ruby and Dominic but we have both changed a lot since then. We haven't talked about it since (because of our TTC issues) but without consulting him, I am hung up on Leighton for a boy and Audrey for a girl.

I also really like the girl names Millicent (from the book 'Millicent and the Wind') and Pepper - but I consider those to be my 'out there' names, lol. And I adore Callum for a boy, but my cousin just named his baby Callum. Another side effect of IF - people stealing your baby names!!!!! Crying

Boy- William Paul (Both names are after my DH grandpas. The first name is after his grandpa who has leukemia. I reallly hope we are able to have kids before anything would happen to him. This name means alot to my husband and we haven't told anyone because he wants it to be a surprise to the family. ) also I like Brody if we have a second boy : ) Girl- I like Charlotte and Anna (This would be after my mom because her middle name is Ann)
