I'ts been 12 years since my last c/s. I know a lot has changed since then. I was wondering how long they tend to keep you in the hospital post surgery, it used to be 5 days. I've heard conflicting stories.
It was 4 days for me.... I think that is pretty standard. However, they did give me the clear to go home on day 3. I just didn't feel ready, and if my insurance paid for 4 days, I was going to use it!

My c-section was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on a Monday. They were running a little late, so it was 9:00 a.m. by the time DS was born. I was released around 2 p.m. on Thursday. Each day the hospital offers a luncheon for any parents who are being being discharged. During the luncheon, a nurse discusses tips for taking care of a newborn. DH and I decided to attend the luncheon, so that is why we left later. I could have left any time on Thursday after my staples were removed around 10 a.m.
I was in 2 days/nights both times. That's standard around here if there are no complications. My insurance will cover 4 if no complications...more if the doctor says it's necessary.
It's been ten years since my last c/s. My first was five days because I had a fever and my second I went home in a day in a half. In at 7am and out by 2pm the next day. I think the standard is three days but you might want to talk it over with your insurance. The only reason you would stay longer would be from complications. I have the same doctor as last time, so I hope I get the same results.
I was cleared to go home after 3 days, but was not ready. My insurance covered 5 days from birth. I went home after 4 days.
