Does your DC go to bed right after bath?

I'm wondering if DS really isn't ready for bed right after his bath.  Now we do bath, put on PJs, bottle, then bed.  While feeding him he's always really fidgety and looking around.  I put him in his crib usually awake and he'll toss for about 15-20 min, then fall asleep.

I know he's tired but I'm wondering if I should maybe wait a little bit before giving him his bottle after bath.

What do you all do after bath?  Is it right to bed?

  • we do bath, bottle, bed.  Next week, it will be bath, book , bed since he will be off of bottles when he turns one.

  • Bath, PJs, book(s), brush teeth, BF
(I still nurse to sleep. Embarrassed)

  • We do pretty much the same thing.  We don't want him to fall asleep at the bottle.  I think it's great that he can roll around and put himself to sleep. Some nights it takes DS 2 minutes to fall asleep other nights 15, but it's good to get them in the habit of self-soothing.  We have started to give him his bottle before his bath so he doesn't get too dependent on it to settle down.

  • No, I bring him back downstairs after his bath and he chills with us on the couch for a little bit and winds down, then I take him back up to bed.  He gets pretty wound up in the bath, so he needs some downtime before he goes to bed.

  • DD never goes straight to sleep.  It always takes a while for her to settle.  We can hear her talking and moaning in her crib for 10-20 minutes.

As for going right to bed, it really depends what time she gets in the tub and how tired she is.  If she doesn't seem sleepy yet, we'll play with her on our bed for a few minutes before reading her story and putting her in her crib.

  • Never. We put on her pj's, read a couple of books, and play in our bedroom until she gets sleepy. Then, she has her bottle and goes to bed. No way she would ever go to sleep on her own in her crib. She would SCREAM.
  • No.  His bath is not part of our 'get ready for bed' routine.
  • I give Emerson her bath before my H gets home, around 5:30, so it's not so  rushed after he gets here.  She goes down about 7:30.  It's just what they get used to.
