Ive been searching for a diaper bag but have yet to find one i like. Well since christmas, our 2 year anivarsary, and valentines is comming I figured I would rather have one big gift. I feel in love with the Louis Vittion Palermo GM for well over a year now. Would it be silly and a bit much to use this as a diaper bag and then transition it to my everday bag after?
Re: what do you think, a bit much?
Would it bother you if you spilled baby formula inside that bag? The size of the bag looks good but if it were me I'd be upset if I ruined the lining from baby snacks and drinks. Are there enough pockets inside for bottles? I bought the Kate Spade Stevie bag. What I like about it is it has all the pockets I need, a changing mat, and it has hooks inside so I can clip and hang it from my stroller. And I can transition this bag to an everyday bag later on. It doesnt look like that LV will hang nicely from a stroller so you will either have to carry it or shove it in the basket at the bottom.
Here is a link to the Stevie bag:

I didn't even check out the bag. The first thing that came to mind is that I get tired of most purses after a few years. Would you really want to transition the bag into an every day bag? Or would you be ready for something new?
I personally do not plan on spending a ton on a diaper bag. It will get worn, tossed around, and dirty. I want it to be comfortable to carry and able to hang from my stroller.
I'm going to recommend what I have. I went to a Thirty-One party, and I couldn't believe how awesome this tote was.

It has outside pockets for the bottles, baby food, or all the other extras you might have and the inside is completely open for the diapers, wipes, spit rags, etc. It doesn't close, but it didn't matter to me. It fit EVERYTHING I needed and wasn't too crowded. I also had it personalized to say DD's name. (But you don't have to personalize it). It has held up so well and I'd recommend it to anyone. For $30 I couldn't beat it.
ETA: Sorry the link isn't clicky. If you go to thirtyonegifts.com and click on "utility" in the categories, it's called the "organizing utility tote."
Get a LV for yourself, but not as a diaper bag. I had yogurt, breast milk, applesauce spill, smushed crackers and Cheerios, not to mention diapers. And the fact that you'll prob have to set it in the floor more than once. The interiors aren't very easy to clean, the pockets aren't great either.
If you think it will work for you then I say go for it...as long as purchasing it wouldn't prevent you from getting another bag in case you don't like using the LV as a diaper bag.
As far as abuse...I don't know what some of these other ladies do to their diaper bags, but mine doesn't get any more abuse than any other purse I own does. I don't put any food in my bag unless its in a zip-lock so at least until now I've never had a situation where food spills in my bag.
The only reason I wouldn't consider getting this bag is because I like having at least one pocket on the outside where I can put a bottle if I'm not taking a lunch bag with me for DD.
