I kept trying to compare my size to how big I was with my first baby. Today I got some real answers..

In case anybody wasn't sure at 24 weeks I'm measuring at 30 weeks. That helps me validate my feelings of already being uncomfortable. I asked her how big do you measure at the end.. she said about 47 or so weeks.. haha. So much to look forward to...
Re: My Dr. measured my belly today...
Validates how you feel though, doesn't it? Thank goodness b/c I thought I was being a total wimp. At 34 wks, I'm measuring 47 weeks. Um yeah...I think we should cut ourselves some slack.
At my 24 week appointment, I measured 37 or 38 weeks. I have consistently been measuring about 12 weeks apart. My doctor told me it's because I have no torso so they only can go out.
I woke up yesterday morning and the stretch marks are starting (they literally came overnight) so I am sure I will be measuring another couple weeks ahead at my appointment on Thursday.

This may be a stupid question but is there a way for me to measure this myself? I've asked my doc how big I was measuring in the past but for some reason she won't do it. I have no idea why she won't (she instead will say "most will measure about 3-4 weeks ahead" but won't actually measure me!) and I'm really curious!
If you have a sewing measuring tape (one of the limp ones) that has cm you can do a rough measurement of yourself. You go from the top of your pelvic bone up the belly to the top of your uterus. Each cm equals a week +/- 1cm. For example if from your pelvic bone to top of uterus you are measuring 32cm you are measuring roughly between 31-33 weeks. My doctor generally just goes each cm equals one week and calls it an average.
My doctor explained this to me a few appointments back so I could measure at home. I will say as I cannot see below the belly anymore my measurements are not as accurate as his.
Oh and do this laying back like you were at the doctors office so your pelvis and back are aligned as that is most accurate.

Thank you! I gave this a shot and was at 40 so that probably sounds about right(ish). Though I'm not really sure where the top of my uterus is so this is basically just me measuring the whole bump from top to bottom while lying down and hoping it is correct.
