Tylenol vs Advil?

So, we had our 2mo appt today and everything looked great! Jake is 13.6 lbs and 24.25 inches long... Big boy! Anyway, he got his two shots and seems ok right now. I went to 3 different places to get Infant Tylenol and no one has it... Supposedly it was recalled I didn't know this??? and now it's not being produced as much yet so when it comes in, it flies off the shelf. Anyway, can I give him infant Advil or should I get a generic infant Tylenol? What say you? TIA!

Re: Tylenol vs Advil?

  • Infant Tylenol hasn't been available in a long time. I never found it for James either. I just went with the generic. I think I have the Walgreens brand right now, maybe the Target brand.

  • We have the target brand. If you call your pedi they can give you the correct dosage to give him children's Tylenol too.

  • I have the infant pedia care one which is similar to Tylenol.

  • In Canada, I can still find it everywhere.

I would get generic infant acetaminophen. It's the same thing.  I am 99% sure you shouldn't use advil unless specifically doctor prescribed for a baby.

  • My doctor said no Advil only Tylenol.  We just use the generic store brand.

  • Any acetaminophen is fine.  You shouldn't give baby advil or motrin until 6 months.

Tylenol was recalled back in 2010.

  • Advil is a big no no, Rhys syndrome and all. Target and little Tummys both have acetaminophen.
