How often do you bathe LO?

I hope I don't sound stupid asking this, but how often do you bathe LO? I know when they're real little they don't need a bath everyday, but now that DD is drooling everywhere and goes to DC everyday is it time for daily baths? I give her a bath every other night and that seems to be fine, but I don't want to end up having the dirty kid at DC.

Re: How often do you bathe LO?

  • We do every other day now but plan to switch to daily when she starts DC,

  • Every other day.  I think if we did every day it would dry her skin out.  I do swab her neck folds for gross, sour breast milk and sometimes use a cotton ball on her face between baths.

  • Every two days. Any more than that, and his skin would be dry.

  • We do every third day unless B gets really dirty...which is rare.  We still do every third day for G too.
  • He takes a bath every night but we don't wash him every night. It's part of his bedtime routine and his favorite part of the day.

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

  • I bathe DS every day. He drools everywhere and since starting daycare I just feel better making sure he is clean and fresh to go to bed. I wipe his face down every morning and are constantly wiping his hands since they are now always in his mouth.

This is our reasoning as well. She LOVES being in warm water and it's part of the routine that lets her know it's time for the long nighttime sleep. It's also nice for my husband because it's his special alone-time with her after he's at work all day. We use plenty of Lavanila baby lotion and have never had an issue with dry skin, thank goodness!

This exactly.  Alivia knows that its time to get ready for bed when we get in the bath.  We use soap every other day.  Since we started this bed time is a breeze.

  • We've started to bathe every night as part of our bedtime routine because DD really, really loves her bath and it chills her out. We don't use soap every time, though, and the pediatrician told me to be sure we leave her in there for at least 15 minutes. She said anything less actually dries baby's skin out as opposed to moisturizing.

  • Thanks ladies. I like the idea of bathing her everyday, but not necessarily using soap. The bath really does help with bedtime.

We do ever other day, sometimes skip a day in there if we have something going on.  I don't think we're going to start daily baths yet.  She loves her baths, but screams when we dry her off and get dressed so it's not soothing for her.

This. We started out doing every day as part of a bed time routine, but I soon realized it wasn't doing us any favors in the sleep department. Now it's usually every other day.

I wish my baby liked baths! She screams, any advice?

My LO doesn't scream, but she clenches her fists and gets really stiff. So I wouldn't say she loves the bath, but she's OK with it I guess.

We turn the heat up and keep the bathroom door closed so that it's nice and warm. I used to have the water running, but that kinda freaked her out, so I make sure the bath is ready to go before I put her in. I think the noise was just too much for her. I try and talk to her a lot and just go as fast as I can.

I start the shower on full heat while I get her undress in the other room.  Once we get in there, I adjust the bath temp.  She hated them too and when her bottom lip quivered, we knew is was because she was cold.  Now, we make it a baby sauna and she loves bath time.  The only problem with this is taking her out of the bathroom.  I used to bring a diaper, oil, and jammies to the bathroom and finish everything on the bathroom floor, but our bathroom is tiny.  I have been taking her to her room now but I make sure she is dry before we leave the steamy goodness!

  • I guess we're the weird ones.  We usually do once or twice a week. Her skin dries out easily and she doesn't enjoy it in general. The pedi even commented on how good her skin looked, so I think we're fine.  Sometimes I'll just wash her hair in between bath days since it can get greasy from all the kisses. :)  She's at home with DH during the day, so I'm not worried about daycare grime.

This is us too...once a week, sometimes he goes 8-9 days without a full bath.  We wash his face and hands with a warm washcloth everyday though.

  • We do daily baths and have for quite some time. For us, it really isn't wasn't even about the cleansing part of it because he wasn't really ever super dirty and in need of a daily bath. We started giving a nightly bath to get him to sleep at a reasonable hour. It is now the begininng of his nighttime routine and it is perfect.
  • We wipe DS down head to toe with a warm wet wash cloth daily, but we only bathe him once a week.

Us too. Once, maybe twice a week. She tolerates the bath but doesn't particularly like it. We wipe her face and neck every day.

  • We do every one to two nights. If I do two nights in a row I only use soap every other night. Now that the air is dryer I don't want to dry her skin out, but she seems fine. Her hair and neck gets gross if I go more than two nights without a bath since she spits up and sweats a lot.
