I mentioned that I was happy I was on maternity leave to a woman. She said already?? Are you due soon? I said the C-Section was in two weeks. She said wow.. I worked til my water broke at work. Why do you need that much time off? I said I am carrying twins. She said bah no big deal.. my daughter was HUGE over 9lbs! "kids these days.."

Peanut Butter and Jelly!

I can say from experience that a 9 lbs. baby and twins are not the same, and I'm only 14.5 weeks along with the twins! My son was 9.5 lbs. at birth. I quit working at 37 weeks because I couldn't make the walk from my car to my office without tons of contractions.
This time, I already feel like my stomach muscles (top of the stomach, no where near the girls) are tired if I walk to much. I didn't hit this stage to much later with my son. It's just totally different. People have no understanding of the difference if they haven't lived it. And since we can only speak from what we understand, we sometimes say foolish things.
DX: PCOS/Recurrent losses/MTHFR mutation (compound hetero)
5 hysteroscopies/2 surgical
3 Inject IUIs = 2 m/c's and 1 BFN
IVF #1= BFP. m/c at 7w6d. Needed 2 D&C's and scar tissue removal. Mild OHSS
IVF #2 = BFP. Severe OHSS. 4 Drainings. TWINS!
I really wish someone would've had the nerve to say something so stupid to me. I must've had "do not mess with me" written all over my face.
I was blessed enough to make it to 38 weeks with the twins. The last 34 weeks were exhausting. I was out of breath just walking in my triangular path from my couch, to the bathroom to the kitchen.
Carrying singleton is nothing like carrying 2 or 3, or more. Don't let stupid people ruin your day. You're almost done Momma. Rest up!
I am planning on taking maternity leave at least 4 weeks before the babies are born. That woman would have had a field day with me.
and....you punched her right? I have about 10 great comments that you could have said to her
woman these days!
Wow! I usually get the opposite... when am I going to get out of the office?
I think I'm starting to scare some of my co-workers to be honest.
I'd love for someone to tell me how their 1 baby is the same as my twins... the number of doctor's appointments alone blow a singleton pregnancy out of the water, let alone additional costs of seeing a MFM, the additional weight/being uncomfortable, the INSANE stretch marks...
I could go on for days, but I'd only be preaching to the choir!
Me too! I am working until Friday and my csection is scheduled for next Wednesday and every day at work people ar like "WHAT are you still doing here?". Um, working..... thanks.
WOW. Just wow.
That is the first comment I've read on here where I was actually offended lol...and it wasn't even said to me. What an ASSinine thing to say.
hhhhhhhhhhhhhahahha I was thinking this exact thing!:) I agree with another PP about people who haven't experienced more than one baby in their belly at a time say foolish things because they don't know about such things
Not to say you are 'better' then her bc you have to experience it...just DIFFERENT than a 9lb+ baby!
