Just put a few on her highchair tray. If she grabs them and goes to town, she's ready. If not, wait a couple of weeks and try again. We decided tonight that LO isn't a piggy; she's a goat. She'll eat anything! But not all babies are so keen on it. My first kid wasn't.
We just started pures a couple of weeks ago. I gave him a small piece of steamed apple this weekend and he didn't quite know what to do with it. We'll try again soon, though, because he keeps grabbing the spoon!
My son isn't that into them either and he's almost 8.5 months. When he sees the puffs or melts on his tray, he just opens his mouth until I put them in, lol. He hasn't quite grasped the concept of picking up food and putting it in his own mouth, but I think he'll get there soon.
dont feel behind. we have not done much with finger foods. He is having 3 meals a day, including meats. I have tried steaming carrot sticks and giving him puffs, and he will chew for a bit but then he starts gagging on them.
I do put apple slices or froze apple puree squares in the mesh teethers..he loves that.
LO gets 3 meals of 4oz jars a day. He doesn't get finger foods. We have had the puffs for a while now and he doesn't care about them. He likes them if he doesn't have to feed himself. But if I put him in his chair then give them to him he won't eat them. Only play with them. So I don't give them to him. He will be ready soon enough. Then I will start giving them to him. He likes the baby mum-mums though. Those he will hold and put in his mouth.

I have seen lots of people talk about mums mums....I never seen them at babies r us though, where do you buy them?
Jonathan will pick up puffs, usually he will put one his mouth..and 99% of the time he throws them to the dogs..LOL

I got mine at Kmart. But I have also seen them at Pick N Save and Target. They are nice because they aren't super small. They are like 2 inches long and dissolve fast. We don't have problems with him biting pieces off for himself (he only has 2 teeth). And I obviously watch him to make sure he isn't taking to big of bites.

We are still doing pureed foods 2 x day also, and just started letting him try feeding himself avocado a couple of days ago and bought some puffs at Target last night. So far, he isn't interested. Pretty much everyone I know IRL started solids before the 6 month mark and we didn't, so I know what you mean about feeling behind! But they'll catch up!
Dd has no interest in finger foods. She likes to push them around the tray and hold them. If I put puffs in her mouth she gives me a horrified look and tries to spit them out.

My LO is right where yours is! He has been showing interest for a while so I think I will try this weekend with Mum Mums or Puffs.
Does it matter if LO doesn't have any teeth yet?
