So I go in for my 30 week visit tomorrow and not really sure what to expect. We have only been doing ultrasounds monthly with the MFM and I had one at 28 weeks so I don't think I will have another one of those. However I am contracting SO much lately I would like to have the reassurance of seeing how thick my cervix is measuring. Should I expect him to check me "manually"... if he doesn't should I ask?
Also my blood pressure keeps going up. I talked to the on call doctor over the weekend and she sort of left it up to me whether I felt I needed to go in to the ER or wait until my appointment because it was high, but not scary high and I wasn't exhibiting any swelling or headaches. If doctor decides to do a 24 hour catch or something should I be prepared to stay overnight at the ER or do they let you take those and do them at home?
Re: 30 week visit (updated)
Did the MFM check your cervix at 28 weeks? Do you go back to the MFM soon? If your MFM did one 2 weeks ago I wouldn't expect them to check tomorrow. My OB never checked, I was checked at every MFM appointment and she stopped at 32 weeks.
I have done several 24 hour urine catches due to high BP and they have all been done at home.
I didn't see an MFM, so my OB did everything. I had monthly ultrasounds until about 28 weeks, then bi weekly. then around 33-34 weeks I started doing weekly non stress tests and weekly OB apts. He only checked my cervix the last week or two, at my request.
But, I did go to the ER (Labor and Delivery really) about 5 times in the last few months, my rule for myself was "better safe than sorry". I had some dehydration issues and some major headaches, but all were kept in check. And whenever I called the on call doctor, they'd always end with, "if you're still worried, go to L & D" so I did.

If you are worried, you should go to the ER and don't feel guilty! It is their job to give you good care.
Side vent: I really hate when the doctor says "I'll leave it up to you." I am not an MD---that is why I am seeing you for your medical expertise!! My doctor is pretty bad on this point. Very frustrating...
