SA stand still

We just got back the results after DH's varicocele surgery this summer. There was a slight increase in quantity, but we're still in the ICSI realm. We pressed his urologist about a DNA frag test (we've both had karyotyping done), but it is really slow going and they don't think it's particularly useful.

It looks like we'll do one last cycle here, early in 2013, under the ultra restrictive laws with little hope and then if we're still here we'll consider cycling in Cyprus or Czech where they can do more, like PGD.

If we're not here very long we're going to have to figure out how all of this gets matriculated into the US insurance system, which likely means shelling out some serious cash and having prior conditions. Here's to hoping the new year brings a much needed exhale.

I love seeing so many tickers around and inching towards the end! It's crazy how fast the time has gone.

  • Hey Mitzi!  Just want to say good luck with your next cycle.  It crazy how fast time goes by (and to still be doing this!).

I was actually thinking about you the other night and then I put two and two together and figured out you're still around, but with another name in another place. That probably sounds cryptic but I think you'll understand.

We might be hitting you up for some CCRM tips in the future. I hope they hold the answer to your woes.

Aegis, I am so excited that your ticker continues rolling on to the right and I really appreciate how much you stay involved here. You're a beckon of hope.

It's quite likely we'll be moving, especially since the medical system here is a little archaic and well be tapped out of insurance. SAIF/PAIF Welcome

  • Thanks, lynn0926, Gregermis, and Roxie. It's so nice to have the support from PAIF. I know you've all been through something you'll never forget and it's so good that so many make it out of this pit.

Glueck - I know you're also familiar with being a medical refugee in a wealthy country. It's definitely archaic. It's so good you're finding your own answers and paving your own path even if you have to go internationally to do it. I hope this is the cycle you've been waiting for.

It's quite likely we'll be moving, especially since the medical system here is a little archaic and well be tapped out of insurance. We will either go with DH's company or we'll be footing the bill for an international move and trying to go somewhere with IF coverage (like Mass.) Both have advantages and disadvantages, but I'm excited for a change.

Come visit me in Mass!  Yes, there is great coverage but we'll have to talk about you getting good insurance that has a big network so you can actually go out of state. The main places in MA aren't that great for problems like you/me/IFV's have. I feel like they are all machines that do the same stuff over and over again, without digging etc.

I wonder why that is such a resounding theme. It's tragic that there's such a demand and that so many REs function as money machines rather than investigating why things aren't working.

Sadly, right now anything will be a step up for us. We can't even have PGD done here due to the law and the doctor's scholarly advice is "keep trying" and "it only takes one" with bottom of the barrel SA numbers across the board and going at this for 3 years at the beginning of 2013.

  • Happy to hear that the surgery did yield some good results (although I know you were hoping for even better numbers).

The insurance game is maddening as it is, I can't imagine having to get answers between countries.  I hope you are able to figure it all out without too much aggrevation.

I'll be sending tons of T&Ps that your upcoming cycle brings you the happiest of news for 2013!  We're due for a new round of happiness in these parts :)
