So here is a background story...
In October of 2010 I applied for a job at a Major Home Improvement Retailer as a Senior Management team member in the Security Field....In November I interviewed for a position 2 hours away from where I was living. On December 28th I had my first date post divorce...it was the worst first date ever....awkward! On December 30th I started my new job as a member of Senior Management. January 15th I was home visiting and decided to try a second date with my new friend...way less awkward we continued dating and fell in love.
I basically rocked the job! Completed the training in record time. No one had any issues with me or my performance I was a rising star. I liked what I did and like the people...the hours sucked though. Some nights I was there until midnight...some mornings I was there by 5:30.
My awkward date turned into an amazing relationship and we were hearing wedding bells. My man starting applying for jobs in my area. We picked out a ring design in late June...On August 6th, while my ring was being made we found out we were expecting! We talked it over and I wanted to be close to my family so I resigned from my position (at the time there were no similar positions near my home, they simply didn't require security person in those locations). My boss was very short with me. He told me was sorry to see me go and he really wished I would find a way to manage a family and the job. Short and sweet and didn't talk to me for the next two weeks....
Well here we are over a year later and it seems a local store is in need of security person. It wouldn't be as many hours...I SO WANT THIS JOB! I work now but I know I would rather work for this other company. I would be the most qualified person and need the least amount of training...
But here is the question. Will my old boss (he would also be my new boss if I got the job) be willing to rehire me at a different location?? Am I out of line to think I should be considered for the job?
Re: Would you hire me??? Long...but I need advice
It sounds like you'd be a great candidate! I'd reach out to your old boss and let him know that baby is here, you've got things balanced and want to work, and would be really excited about the position at your local store.
Good luck!
You included way too many details that weren't needed.
Recap:
-You had a job. Did great at it.
-Left job when you moved away. Boss not too happy that you left cause he liked you.
-New job open at the same company, but at a place closer to home. Would report to the same guy.
-Should you apply?
Answer: Yes.
This.
I warned you it was long...
Thanks for the real advice
This made me LOL
I agree, yes apply and reach out to your boss as well.
