We don't have a lot of Barbies, but ours are stored in plastic Itso containers from Target. They're the perfect length and deep enough to store all of our Barbies and accessories. If we had more accessories, I'd get another one and keep them in a separate container. If I were buying them now, I'd get the fabric containers, but they weren't available when I bought mine. Everything fits nicely in my Ikea Expedit (cube) bookshelf.
We have one clear plastic bin that holds all the barbies, then a clear small gladware bowl with lid for all of the little tiny shoes and other small parts and then one final clear zip up plastic bag (that I think came from another toy) that stores all of the clothes.
Not exacty all cute and fancy, but it does the trick and the girls know where each thing goes.
'Til He returns, or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I stand.
We took a suitcase on wheels and that is what barbie lives in. Easy wnough for my DD to open and close by herself and easy enough to move around to were ever she want to go.
We did the same thing when we were little, but no fancy wheels for our suitcase

I put either a glue dot inside the shoe or a small clear ponytail holder around the shoes to help the stay on.
