Working moms- Daycare Provider Christmas Present?

What are you giving your DCP for Christmas?

Do you use a center or inhome provider?

We use in home and love our DCP.  I have read several places that you should give a bonus of one weeks pay, but when I asked a couple of my IRL friends they thought I was crazy for giving that much.  Thoughts?

  • We are doing 1 weeks pay and we have a nanny.  Also, Olivia has that same sweater - too cute!

  • We use an in-home provider. I definitely wouldn't give 1 weeks pay .... $200 bonus? Don't think so. I was planning on buying a gift of some sorts (maybe gift card to Barnes and Noble or a family-type restaurant). I'm definitely not spending $200 -- more like $50.

  • I have never heard of giving 1 weeks pay but maybe people are more likely to do that if the use an inhome daycare or a nanny. We will probably just give the teachers a gift card somewhere and maybe a little gift, though I'm not sure what. DH's friend use to be a daycare teacher and he usually got gift cards from the parents.
  • we use a center and I am waiting on a call back to let me know if we can give cash or if it has to be a gift card of some type. The woman in dd's room are amazing and have been a huge part of our daily life this year so I would like to be generous. I would love to be able to bonus them with cash .
  • DD goes to a center and this actually just reminded me that I need to check with the other parents to see what they usually do.

DD will be the oldest/the one who has been in her room the longest by the holidays and so if something from the class needs to be organized, I guess it makes sense for me to do it.

  • We use an In Home daycare, I may get her a cute sweater or a GC to a restaurant.
  • We did gift cards and a small something to open for E's preschool teachers. I would definitely do money for a DCP, if it's in home or a nanny one weeks pay seems to be pretty standard in this area.
  • When I was a nanny, I generally got 1 week's pay as a bonus. For an in home provider, I think that would be appropriate. If money is tight or you feel like that is too much, maybe go with 100 dollars.

  • LBB is in a center.  He has 2 DCPs in his "room" but often for drop offs and pick ups they merge rooms with the little guys, (and sometimes LBB's favorite teacher "kidnaps" him and brings him in with her and the little guys in the afternoon for a bit if it's a light day).  There are a total of 10 DCPs, so I figured I would do GCs for the 2 in his room and either a cookie tray, or starbucks for all the DCPs.

  • My kids are not in daycare but for their teachers I make packages of dipped strawberries. Between the two kids they see 11 different teachers. I used to make a gingerbread schoolhouse for display in the classroom but I do not have that kind of energy anymore. Perhaps for Audrey's main teacher.

  • My SIL keeps DD. I am getting her a bag to organize her craft stuff and some craft supplies.

  • Brooke has a total of 5-6 people that care for her throughout the day due to schedules.  I can't possibly do something for all of them (and there may even be more) without excluding someone.

ETA - I think I will have to limit it to the 2 "official" caregivers for her "offcially" assigned room.  Gift Cards though, $50 each.
