Trouble TTC

TTC and Frustrated

I have been on birth control since i was 15 because my periods were irregular. I went off birth control November 2011. periods were regular and then boom.. irregular. So, went to the obgyn and she put me on progesterone. What was 30..42..29..32.34 turned into a solid 31 day cycle. But we have been trying and still nothing. Went to have a check up again and they told me that I was ovulating and my obgyn said that by the book i looked great but she wanted me to do an HSG test and wanted my husband in for an analysis.  His analysis was slightly disappointing, his count was great but motility was down and morphology was present, but not horrible. they said he could have been nervous so they would do a second analysis that will be tomorrow. in the meantime, I had my HSG and the radiologist said after the test was over that everything looked good but she still had to look closely with her equipment in her office. I get a phone call on vacation that said my right Fallopian tube seemed to be blocked, but my left was completely open. She said after my husband's next analysis is done and they have reviewed it they will let us know if we need to go to a fertility clinic.

My bad habits: BMI is a little high by like a point, love lattes(been drinking decaf espresso)  and diet drinks.don't exercise 3-5 days a week all the time, but i try to at least twice a week.

I have used OPK and I got a smiley face Nov. 2,3 and 4th. We had sex a couple of days before Nov. 2 and on Nov. 2 and 3rd. I can't remember on the 4th. We were on vacation. But we did Nov.5. I did end up with a negative OPK Nov. 5. My period is suppose start Nov. 18 (5 days from now.)

I am just down because I don't know if we will ever be able to get pregnant naturally. We don't have the money for expensive fertility treatments. Has anyone else had this happen to them and ended up pregnant? Any advice on what we can do?

Thanks!

  • If you decide to do any treatments or take any medications, please be sure that you see a reproductive endocrinologist (RE) - not your OB. It's good that you have started the testing process, but OBs are not experts in fertility and most will not give you proper care.

Most of us here are already undergoing fertility treatments with REs. You will learn a lot about the process just by lurking on the board and reading posts. Pretty much no one here has had success - nearly all of us are still trying for our first. If you are looking for success stories, please post on the PAIF or SAIF boards.

  • Listen to everything BlueEyedDreamer said. She had great advice. Like she said, there aren't alot of success stories on this particular board (people move on to other boards once they get pregnant), but this is a good place for support for what you're going through now.

That being said, welcome, and I wish you the best of luck. I feel you on the expensive aspect of it. I am one of the few active posters on here who is not currently seeking treatment. We are kind of in a transitional phase where we're trying to figure out how much money we're willing to spend on further testing and maybe minimal treatment (only SA done so far) or if we'd rather save up for adoption because of our financial and insurance situation. Everyone is welcome here who has trouble TTC, 12 months or longer, though, so you are welcome here. Make sure to see an RE like PP said.

TTC from May 2011 to Jan 2013. Due 9/11/13

This exactly.. I do understand your frustration and I feel for you. A lot of ladies here have more obsticles than this. You need to see an RE, you need to be proactive in this process. Unfortunitly some infertility treatments and cycles might be necessary to bring you to your goal. You do what you have to do. Good luck

  • Thank you all for responding. I have never done anything like this so i am very new to it.

I know I serve a big God who can make this happen. I have faith and will continue trying and I will definitely seek out a RE.

    Thank you!!

  • Ditto the others about seeing an RE for proper diagnosis and treatment.  There are some fertility treatments, depending on your diagnosis, that aren't *too* expensive in the grand scheme of things even if you're out of pocket, so you could possibly plan and save up if that's the route that you decide to go.  Good luck!

  • I know that there are worse situations out there. I am just so new to everything and I am learning a lot. I am definitely looking into other options and a RE.

    Thank you all!
