I cannot wait...

For lo to start sitting up for the sole purpose of grocery shopping a little easier.  That carseat takes up so much freaking room in the buggy it's insane, I sware I had him hold a jar of spaghetti sauce this morning because there was no room.  He also hates his carseat so halfway through shopping he always wants out, so I have to pull the buggy and hold him, even with a carrier im exhausted! It'll be so much easier when he can just sit in the front part of the buggy.

Re: I cannot wait...

  • Dumb question but have you tried it? Do the "buggies" in your area have those straps? See my sig pic below, she is in the buggy with the little straps. They hold her up quite well. I just randomly tried it one day and it worked out. She still does get tired sometimes so I bring the moby as back up.

We just latch the carseat onto the top of the buggy seat...don't know if your carseat does that, or you're against it, but that's the only way I can get it done..

It's either the impracticality of doing little trips to only get a few items at a time, or the impracticality of trying to do it all at once lol...ahh motherhood.

And if you flame me for putting my carseat on top, so be it, that's just the way it's done here :)

Oh I totally do this! It's LO that decides he doesn't want to sit in the car seat anymore about 20 minutes into the grocery trip. Carry him and he's all good he just wants out of that seat.

I've never seen those! I would if they had them, we have ghetto stores in the south I guess lol!

I can't wait either....I hate going shopping alone because one of us has to have a cart with LO and the other for our food.  I've found things under his carseat twice that I did not pay for.  Oopppss...and yes I returned them :)

Random, but I've noticed a lot of people on here call things buggies and I would call them shopping carts...maybe its just me.  I know there are plenty of differences..pop vs soda, bubbler vs water fountain vs drinking fountain, and I guess you learn something new everyday!

Mel, I was just thinking this! I say "cart" as well, but I think we're both from WI/MN, right? Maybe "buggy" is a southern thing??

This, I think so! Me and dh were in Minnesota about 5 years ago and they said "cart" and "pop", I just ask for a coke and then specify what kind. We also ordered sweet tea at dinner and that wasn't happening at all, lol. Im from Louisiana so it's a little worse with some of the things I say that dh points out to me all the time!

We call it a shopping cart too, but I'm going to start saying buggy because it sounds fun :)

I also think its weird when people call going to the movies going to a "show".  And I say Supermarket not "the store" that is too broad.

  • If I have to take DD with me, I wear her in the K'Tan. It works SO much better for me. She won't sleep in it but she is silent basically the entire time and just looks around at everything.

    Yep, Green Bay WI here!

If we are really slow one day maybe we should do some polls...buggy vs shopping cart, pop vs soda, and now I see supermarket and I say grocery store...interesting...

I think that would be so interesting!

  • I agree. I don't even grocery shop with LO bc the carseat doesn't click in to the cart and won't fit in the cart part [if that makes sense]. So while I can perch her carseat on the cart it doesn't click so it totally freaks me out. I usually just take her in the stroller if I only need to grab a couple things or I leave her with DH and go on the weekends.

DS hates being in his carseat at the grocery store too. I've started wearing him in the ergo and he now loves going to the grocery store. He loves being upright and looking around at all the people and lights.

Love the ergo!  We also use it for grocery shopping.  DH even wears it when they go together.
