Music!!

Hey everyone! Unfortunately due to the Hurricane here in NJ my baby is back in the NICU. It was such a tease having her home for 3 days. But her oxygen concentrator malfunctioned when our power went out due to the storm. Long story short we are waiting for her new equipment but battling the insurance company and she's might be there for another week (insert really sad face here)! She was born at 29 weeks and she's 10 weeks and 2 days, my nurse says she looks bored and if I had anything musical to bring in for her. I looked thru everything and I have not one thing that I can bring in that plays music. Nowadays everything is attached, the music to her bassinet, the music to her bouncer, the music to her swing, it all comes together!! What did you ladies use? I want to stimulate her as much as possible and she seems to be more alert with longer periods of being awake. Hopefully soon I'll be writing about how my baby is coming home...for good!!

TIA for any input!!! Have a great day everyone!!

Re: Music!!

  • First I am so sorry that your LO is back in the NICU, I hope you and your family are doing well under the circumstances of the hurricane. As far as the music I totally agree with pp, dd loves her seahorse, she also loves her sleep sheep. As far as entertainment if lo is bored maybe go with the seahorse because the belly glows while music is playing. We used music a lot in the NICU when she was little to help her grow, it wasnt for entertainment at that point but just a sound machine worked well. Like pp said I am not sure how much access you have to shopping. Good luck and I hope your LO is home soon!

  • I am sooo sorry about the tease. I'm broken hearted for you.

The seahorse doesn't last all that long. What if you get an aquarium thing that will attach to the side of the crib or pnp when you get home? There are also baby MP3 players. You can put a song or two that you love on it and if you really wanted you could record your voices and ask the nurse to play it when you can't be there. I'm sure you have a lot of stuff to straighten out that might take you away from the nicu. Best wishes.

  • Thank you so much for all the support and great ideas. Our baby girl came home yesterday! We went with the sleep sheep and a baby einstein mobile. She actually covered her ears when it first started playing! Lol!
