  • All of your ideas are great. DS's bday was this weekend and we got him a black & decker tool bench (on sale at target for $39.99 for black friday, we spent $65 on amazon and still totally worth it!) - DD loves this too and they both have had a blast playing with the tools and "building" things. Other suggestions: mega blocks or duplo blocks, lacing cards, books, pattern blocks with cards (melissa and doug), puzzles, trains and train tracks, memory game, and art supplies. Happy shopping :-)

  • We bought our little guy a portable dvd player when I was planning a trip to California and we wanted him to be good on the plane. Seriously, had no idea how much use we would get out of it. We bring it with us in the car now when we know we will have a ton of stops, or a long drive. It has saved the day more than once around here.

  • I'm really excited to get DS the Fisher Price electric drill for Xmas. I know he is going to love it!!!
  • We and/or other people are giving him a lot of books (these are still, by far, his favorite thing to use), a matching set (probably Good Night Construction Site), Hi Ho Cherry-O, the M&D wooden vehicles & traffic signs set, some sort of fold up road/car mat (like this, sorry not clicky: https://www.amazon.com/Alex-36-Vinyl-Padded-Playmat/dp/B0009S5TYA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=UKY46GS6ERTL&coliid=I1O4EZQFDCL5P0)

Maybe Legos/Duplos. I think I'm going to get  him a backpack because I think he'd like it and some sort of calendar - either a regular one, the M&D one, or make one where we can do the days/date/weather/etc. in the mornings.

  • Train table (Imaginarium set is awesome), Scooter, big trucks, big wheels, duplo blocks

  • DS is getting a tool bench and accessories. He is also obsessed with Matchbox cars and his race track so he is getting a track that does a loop! Sit and Spin, Pirate Ship, art supplies. He has been telling me that Santa is going to bring him paint.

  • Ditto to the pp about the portable dvd player.  It was the best thing ever during the hurricane.  It kept my kids entertained for hours (until the battery died- then we recharged at a firehouse).  It's been great on car trips, plane trips and things like doctor's waiting rooms!  It may not be fun like a toy - but it is helpful to mommy!

  • I would suggest a rug with roads on it.  We drive cars daily and it helps with developing their imagination.  Plus, I can roll it up and put it away.
