Co-sleeping with twins?

Hi ladies, I was wondering if any of you have experience with co-sleeping with twins. I have a king bed and it'd just be me and the kiddos.

  • A good friend of mine her hubby does it. Their boys are now 2.5 and they have a queen mattress they put on floor.

  • We do it but not by choice! Ha. They're just about one and wake up SO MUCh at night plus our daughter has separation anxiety at night, so we just bring them into bed with us so we can try to get some rest rather than getting up constantly. Methods involving crying it out won't work because they share a room and will wake each other, plus I just don't think we have the fortitude to do it. Lately we've been sleeping separately a lot...me with our daughter (because she only wants me) in our room and my husband with our son in the spare room. If we had a king sized bed we might have been able to manage all of us together and if it was only me and the two of them in a king size, I could definitely manage it.
  • We sort of did.  DS1 co-slept for the first 8m.  I don't think it would've worked to have them both IN our bed at the same time, so we used THIS LINK and I'd normally start the night with 1 in our bed and the other in the crib, then I'd switch them 1/2 through when they'd wake to feed

  • We started out with them in an Arm's Reach Original co-sleeper but even just having them in our room lasted less than two weeks; they made way too much noise so we moved them to the nursery and DH and I started sleeping in shifts. If it's just you on duty with them though, I think co-sleeping probably would end up being easier at least until they start to reliably sleep longer stretches at night so you're not up and down a lot. For me personally with two of them, I felt a lot more comfortable (and safer) having them in a co-sleeper so they were still at my level, I could still reach out and touch them, but they had their own space too.

  • We do and have since they came home from the hospital.  We also bed-shared with our toddler though and have a set up that works for us.  We also keep a cradle in our bedroom to have a place to put a baby now that they are sleeping 5-6 hour stretches at night.

  • I do. I sleep with one baby on each side of me so when they start making little noises I just roll over and they latch to nurse. We all sleep much better this way.

  • We co-slept for the first 13 months.  It worked great for us.  They both slept to one side of me.  It made night feeds in the early days MUCH easier.  They transitioned to their cribs with no issues.

  • I sleep with our boys and have since they came home from the hospital.  I sleep with one on either side of me, with them either on my arms or chest.  This is incredibly helpful for the overnight nursing sessions.   Especially since they are old enough to attach themselves.  Co-sleeping with them is the only way I get enough sleep to function the next day.  I also co-slept with our girls, who now sleep in their own room.
