Ok im wondering what they feel like, I havent been able to sleep due to what feels like period cramping, and tightening of the stoumach. Iv been feeling it periodically today and was wondering if its bx or i should call the doctor. Any ideas
Braxton hicks are usually painless and it's just tightening not cramping. If you are cramping I would call your ob. You may have a bladder infection or maybe it's just round ligament pain.
I get BH all the time, they do not hurt. They feel like your uterus is tightening up and you can actually see it if you look at your belly. It lasts for about 15-30 seconds. They are uncomfortable and sometimes make me feel like I have to pee. haha.
If you are feeling pain I would let you OB know. Round ligament pain can feel like a sharp stab sometimes, but doesn't last very long. I get those sometimes.
I've had some Braxton Hicks contractions that were strong enough to be painful, usually when I've done too much at once, but it's only a few and then they ease up in an hour or so.
Braxton Hicks themselves are supposed to be painless, but if you're overdoing it, they can get somewhat painful.
