Re: when did your LO roll/sit up

  • he sat independently 2 days before 5 months and has been pretty sturdy but still doesn't roll.

he can roll almost all the way on the bed (he pulls on the sheets to help him and I think since it's softer it helps) but he won't on the floor

He will be 7 months on saturday

  • LO just started sitting independently a few weeks ago. Right before he turned 6 months. He can roll both ways but rarely does it. He mostly just rolls to his side and stays there. He rolled at 3.5 months.

  • DS rolled at 3 months. Started sitting by himself at 5 months and crawling at 6 months. I think lots of tummy time and wanting to be like the other kids helped a lot he got a lot of this at daycare twice a week.
  • Emma has been rolling both ways since mid July. She sat up on her own (only once) last week. Normally we just sit her and she can stay. That has been for a couple of months now.

  • Noah started sitting independently around the last 2 weeks of September.

He started rolling belly to back consistently the first weekend of November and he started rolling back to belly last week and now he is log rolling all over the place!

My son is a giant, so I attributed his late rolling to the fact that he had a lot of weight to try to flip over. Is your baby big?

I also worked with him by rolling him myself a few times and then clapping and making a big deal (which he thought was hilarious) and I tried to avoid putting him anything (bouncy seat, excersaucer, etc.) so he had more chances to roll and move.

Also for sitting I would just put him in the sitting position as much as possible and prop him with the boppy or my legs or whatever so he could get used to it and build those muscles.

sorry this got so long! but good luck!!!

  • LO has been rolling since 3 or 4 months and has been crawling for 2 or 3 weeks, but she doesn't sit up on her own yet.  I didn't do anything to encourage her.  Babies just develop at their own pace, despite our efforts to speed them up.  Try not to worry about it!

  • mine have both been rolling for a month or so, and just started sitting up independently.

honestly, just lots of tummy time and practice sitting up with help. every baby is different though, it will happen soon enough.

  • I would have LO sitting between my legs, so he would learn to balance himself and have a toy between his. He started rolling over at 2 1/2 months and sitting up at 5 months, he is just startiing to learn to crawl, but only a few successful steps.
