Rash on baby cheeks

DS looks like he has little rosy cheeks which is what I thought it was but it hasn't gone away no matter the temp. In the bath tonight I was feeling his face and the rest of his face is smooth (like a baby butt ;) ) except on his cheeks. They just have a little texture on them and are a little red. Any ideas?

Re: Rash on baby cheeks

  • My first thought is it's teething related. It's happened with my children, especially this time of the year. Even if they aren't drooling a lot, they are and wiping it across their face and with the air being dryer, it get's irritated. I just put lanolin ointment on it and watch it to make sure it doesn't get worse. My other thought is an allergic reaction, but if he hasn't been fed anything different than it's probably not that.

  • My son just had something similar last week. I think like PP said it was from him teething and wiping the drool across his face. After he was asleep, I would just put some lotion on it and it seemed to help clear it up.
  • Depending on where you live, the cold dry air can cause the rosie cheeks and on top of teething it can be a combination of both. I just put a little bit of aquaphor on them and it goes away after a few hours.
