Hey ladies just wanted to know if any of you are using the treadmill while pregnant ? If so how long and how many times a day ?
I'm currently 3 weeks will be 4 weeks come this Friday and plan to continue to do so for as long as I can. I walk briskly for 15 minutes 3 times a day.
Re: Treadmill Mamas ?
Before I was pg I ran 4 or 5 days a week averaging 7 miles in an hour. All I wanted to do during the first tri was sleep and I only got to the gym one or two days a week and pretty much did a typical workout. During the second tri I slowly started reducing speed, but kept exercising for an hour three days a week through 38 weeks. By the end I was struggling to go 4.5 miles in a hour. My LO is three months old and I am almost back to my pre-pregnancy pace.
That is great! I'm aiming to go longer when outside at the track my goal is an hr.
Whoo hoo ! This is what I need to keep as a goal! how was labor/delivery considering you kept up on exercising? I'm going to attempt a VBAC since it's been 8 long years since I was pregnant and gave birth via c-section. I just want things to go well without complications and want all to be healthy.
That's wonderful! I plan to strive for miles but as of right now I'm I'm keeping minutes a goal.
I think being in shape helped with labor. Pushing is a fairly athletic activity and having some stamina helps. More than anything, exercising helped to keep me sane as my hormones swung around. I also gained 34 pounds and cringe to think how much more weight I would have gained w/o exercising.
I would recommend setting time goals instead of distance goals since you will see your pace slow down.
I pretty much only run on a treadmill since its easier than running outside pushing the jogging stroller, so I bring DS to the gym for babysitting (which he loves) so I can get my run in.
I am still going 4 miles every other day and I hope to continue this up to the day I deliver.
I agree with pp - running has definitely kept my hormones in check this time and I just feel better overall. I am also very much hoping exercising will help me succeed with a vbac (I didn't run my first pregnancy, and gained 40+ lbs that time).
