We're moving to the UK next week. LO will still be in a bassinet for another month or so, but I think I feel more comfortable getting a crib that is closer to US safety standards. I can't really explain why, other than that since I became pregnant with her here and had her here, so it's here that I've done all my research. I don't know anything about safety standards in the UK, and don't even know where to look.
So, UK mummies:
- Are drop-side cots still in use out there, or have they been recalled like here in the US? The only information I can find is a Which? article from 2010.
- (Probably a stupid question, but you can never be too careful) Can I assume that, like in the US, no cot can be sold unless it meets all safety standards?
- Can I find the Graco Lauren or Freeport anywhere? Or any Graco cribs, for that matter?
- Does anyone know where I can find a comprehensive list of the safety standards, so I can compare?
Re: US vs UK crib standards
Now there's something I didn't know! I was umming and aahing over whether to bring it or not... Thanks!
I don't know about crib standards since we also brought our Babyletto Mercer with us. I haven't seen any drop side cribs advertised in any of the baby magazines I've flipped through. To be honest I see a lot of the same stuff here that is also sold in the US.
The big issue is when it comes to if you get in an accident.
Oh and if you are staying for a while and your LO will move out of the infant seat you'll be shocked that they move FF next in most cases. You can get RF seats for after the infant stage. Check out

I understand your point, but like I said, we've decided to go car-free. So we've only been using it with our stroller frame. It will probably be an issue if we have a 2nd LO and they inspect our car seat at the hospital. Apparently you need to have one even if you are not traveling by car. Plenty of time to figure something out until then.
Thanks for the links!
