So I probably had my biggest mom fail today. DH was in the kitchen getting dinner together and I had just finished changing DS's diaper. I left DS in the living room to throw away the diaper and ask DH a question. I don't know if I didn't close the baby gate all the way or what, but I turn around to find DS like 2 feet from the basement stairs. I run to scoop him up and kick the door frame really hard in the process. Thankfully DS is ok and I just bruised my toe really bad. Can I blame this one on pregnancy brain?
Re: Mom fail
Ouch, glad LO is ok. We had a DH and a mom fail at our house yesterday. It is probably a good thing the girls are with the sitter today:)
DH fail - DD1 left the basement door open when yesterday when they were playing down in the playroom and DH wasn't keeping an eye on her. I looked down the steps and DD2 had climbed 5 stairs. I had to run down and be calm so I didn't freak her out and make her fall.
Mom fail - In the morning I was brushing my teeth and DD2 was in the bathroom with me and I looked over at right when she flipped herself headfirst into the bathtub (and of course I had the bath at out in the washer). She nailed her face and folded her body in half. She got bloody nose, but was fine otherwise.

Aw, I think we all have moments like these when we are face palming ourselves. Part of learning as FTM (and STM too)! At least all was well. Hope your foot heals quick so you can forget about the whole thing quicker!
This! Glad LO is okay, hope your toe is better soon!
Baby Boy #2 is on the way!
I did this a few weeks ago. We have the scary German house stairs (you know what I am talking about, the open backs and big drop). I left the gate open because I had brought some things up from the laundry room and ds was in his high chair.
So when I took him out of his high chair, I put him on the floor and forgot the gate was open. I went to wash his bib off in the sink and noticed he was quiet. thank GOD I did, because he was staring down the stairs. So scary.
