This may sound like a dumb question but I'm actually reading conflicting information. I've read that sex during T1 in high risk pregnancies is dangerous due to the uterus contracting. My only risk factor (that I know of) is AMA. Our first appointment isn't until Dec. 7 and that's a long time to wait to ask!
Me: 38, DH: 35

Over-40 parents...what we lack in vigor, we make up for with cunning.
I'm 41 and considered high risk. That's enough to freak out daddy. However, my BP and HR are both low, I run marathons and am in the best shape of my life, so I talked to my doctor about it. She said that age will put you in the group regardless, and it really is just an indicator of more tests and close follow-ups. However, she also told me that I'm in better health than the majority of her younger patients and as long as I'm not in pain, go for it.
So went home, told him to stop treating me like an "flower", to take his pants off and get ready. Great sex ever since.
Unless you've been told not to or it's uncomfortable, go for it.
Also, as far as "high risk" indicators go, the medical community has pigeon-holed women of a certain age, as far as I'm concerned. When you read the increase in the number of women over the age of 35 (and heaven forbid 40) having babies, those percentages should reflect change in demographic. They do not. So get your checkups, have tests you feel you need and enjoy the freedom that goes along with a later life child. I don't have the same anxieties, i.e. relationship with my husband, insecurites (emotional and financial). It's a great feeling.
I totally agree. I'm in better shape now, physically, emotionally and mentally than I was in my 20s. Not to mention better off financially. I don't get the 'high risk' thing based just on a number, but I'm not going to sweat it too much.
