My siggy link has what I think works well for newborns. The ergo is doable but isn't my first choice (I prefer something that allows legs out early on and something that doesn't require an insert). You need the insert (or can also use a folded blanket to mimic it) so that baby is held tightly in the carrier in an upright tummy to tummy position so baby doesn't slump - without the insert, the carrier is too roomy for a newborn.

Thanks for the link. I am also considering buying a ring sling. I'm not sure how I would like a Moby, but the sling looks like something I could do, at least for the first little bit before baby fits nicely in the Ergo.
