So proud of my husband....

So, my hubby doesn't talk to much about our IF outside of the home, mostly because the IF is on my side, not his. I don't often know the depths to which it effects him. I think he protects me from it.
Yesterday he told me he received an email from an old friend- one that he met long before he met me and had lost touch with. It is one of those friendships that just picks up where it left off no matter how long its been since they last talked.... thank goodness for such friends.
Well, he had written her to tell of our upcoming move to the USA and to congratulate her on her latest addition to her family- baby number 2. She of course wrote him back congratulating him on his new job in the USA. Then she proceeded (with all good intention) to tell him.... with all of this career excitement and upward movement, don't forget to have children. "Its the best thing I've ever done," she wrote.
My husband outted himself, and just said, "if only it were so easy... sometimes these are words we throw around so easily and we forget thatwe often have no idea what people are going through. not everyone can just have kids when they feel like it." Of course his friend was equal parts embarrassed and devastated to hear this news. She apologized profusely, and he talked to her a bit about infertility, the pain of it and the importance of being careful with talking about those things. She took it well.
I was just proud of him for saying what he needed to say in the wake of his sadness.

Long story: trying on our own + testing testing testing with 6 rounds of Clomid, more testing, injectables + TI, laparoscopy - one tube blocked, 2 IUIs with Follistim...BFNs.
RPL testing all normal, Karyotyping normal
Moving on to IVF.
IVF #1 April 2012 = BFN, IVF #2 June 2012 = BFP. U/S 7/23 = saw heartbeat but measuring behind. Follow up U/S on 7/30 - no heartbeat. D&C 8/2. Trisomy 12. IVF #3 Oct 2012 = Chemical Pregnancy
Phone consult with CCRM on 12/12/12 - ODWU 1/4/13 - both tubes clear(!) - AFC 24, AMH 3.2, FSH 9.6, LH 5.4, E2 25. DH has high frag rate but improved!
IVF #4 March 2013 CCRM. EP protocol w/ Menopur, Gonal-F & Dexamethasone. ER 3/29 & IMSI, PICSI. 43R 13M 10F 6blasts bio'd. CCS testing reveals 3 normals!!!
FET 5/31/13 of 1 4AA blast - thawed and expanded. 4dp5dt BFP.
Beta 9dp5dt = 181, 11dp5dt = 427. 1st u/s showed a healthy heartbeat! EDD 2/16/14
After 4 years of hoping and heartbreak, our sweet little bean was born on 2/19/14

My DH did something similar recently. He reconnected with an old friend (well, girl he had a crush on in undergrad back in India) via FB. She's been TTC for almost 2 years & has had several m/c's in that time. Unforunately, she has no IF coverage (she & her DH lives in PA now) & is completely lost in all of this. DH told her to friend me & I'd help. How sweet!

I think that is amazing. We women have got to help each other. Good for your husband for bringing you together.
I am totally proud of Mr Glueck. Although we have no intention of sharing our "donor egg" story with anyone outside of our family, I hope that we can talk more openly about infertility and IVF. As much as we try to deny it, its part of us now. We hope it doesnt define us, but it is a part of our story.

Our little miracle baby is a boy.
Baby Boy Owen and Baby Girl Avery were born too early on Feb. 13, 2011 due to a pedunculated fibroid, incompetent cervix and suspected placental abruption.
