I'm at my witt's end with my mouthy 3 year old. Lately his talking back is out of control. If we say anything to him, for example"don't be rude", he just mimics back to us "You don't be rude!". I've tried making him sit on the stairs until he's ready to be good & he will tell me he wants to be bad. I can't make him apologize after he's been disrespectful either, he is sooo stubborn. I don't know what to do...ignore it, punish him??...Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    My 2.5 year old can be this way sometimes.I tell her it isn't nice to talk that way and tell her what she should say instead. Example: My response to "you don't be rude!" would be, "That's not nice. When mommy tells you not to be rude, you say 'okay' or 'i"m sorry'." It's taken a while, but she's finally starting to use my alternative responses. Good luck! It is frustrating when you feel like you've tried everything possible.

    I'm having the same problem and cry every day. I feel defeated and don't know what to do.....I have tried everything, spanking, time outs, talking kindly, distracting etc The spanking and time outs just make him meaner and louder and talking kindly etc he just ignores and keeps on. Sorry your going through this but refreshing to know were not alone
