How are you changing LO?

This might seem like a really silly question but how are you lifting LO's bum up to change their diaper?

When DD was tiny I would just lift her legs up gently by her ankles, but lately I've been feeling like she's too heavy (18lbs) and that I'm going to injure her or something by doing it that way so I've been fumbling and trying to slip it under her by lifting up super gently by her thighs and wiggling the diaper under and it makes changes take forever and it gives me less control over her so I'm fighting to keep her from crawling away on me!

    I'm probably more rough than the two-ankle hold and usually just lift him by one now. He screams and kicks his feet even more if I try to hold both together. They're really tough at this age, I wouldn't worry about it.

    lift her by the ankles.  easiest way to do it.

    I still lift my 2.5 year old by the ankles.  You won't hurt her :)

    You would not want to see how diaper changes go in our house with our 10 month old, she will NOT lay still!

    Okay thanks ladies, I feel better about it now!

    PP some diaper changes here are scary too lol a few times I've had to straddle her, on my knees, and hold her little body snug between my legs because she just would not stop twisting and rolling... it's especially bad when she's really wound up and she's poopy because instead of waiting until I'm going to put the new dipe on (which generally she does) she starts trying to roll around before I've even had a chance to wipe her!!

    I guess I can see why a changing table might be nice at this age... maybe she wouldn't want to play so much if she was up high and strapped in?

    When I put my on the changing table, he arches his back to try to slide head first off the end! I don't know that it really helps all that much.

    If she is cooperating I lift by the ankles.  If not I usually pin her with my leg and slide the diaper underneath.

    This.  We don't use a changing table.  She gets changed wherever we happen to be.  She might even end up naked for a while if we aren't close to another diaper.  

    Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

    This...if he's trying to crawl away with a dirty bottom I have a tendency to do what needs to be done in order to avoid dirty carpets. He gets over it quickly once I release him.

    There is a way to use your forearms to pin them down with their legs open so you can wipe the front. Then lift their ankles for the rear end. lol, otherwise, you can try to become good at wiping and putting a diaper on with a baby in crawling position. and the table strap does little to help.. she can turn under it even when it's super tight.

    Haha, this! She's a squirmer! I feel pretty lucky to get the diaper on her at all sometimes ;)
