People in my 'hood are already putting lights & holiday decorations up. I find it annoying to see their Harvest wreath, surrounded by twinkle lights. Is it just me?
Went to a baby shower yesterday evening and dh worked around the house while I was gone. As I rounded the corner I saw Christmas lights and decorations, I was already to inform dh no decorations til after thanksgiving when I realized its the neighbors house...our house will look sooooo much better next Friday when we get our stuff up!
I disrespect the turkey every year by listening to Christmas music and watching movies, etc before Thanksgiving. But I never decorate until Black Friday (after shopping, of course!) And I'm a Christmas nut too.
I don't mind when others have their trees up for turkey day (my neighbors have theirs up already) but I never could only b/c I like to go chop down my live tree. It would never make it that long!
I'm a believer in Thanksgiving, then Christmas. We usually start our Christmas decorating on Thanksgiving night and work on it throughout that weekend.
But I'm hanging on by a thread. A THREAD, I tell you. Damn Pinterest and its one million great Christmas projects/recipes/decor idead.

I will say, the pics of kids with Santa already are making me stabby. I guess baby moms can get away with that, but if I took my 4 year old to go see Santa now? He'd be FREAKING HIS FREAK having to wait another month and a half for the big guy to actually come.
But I just don't want to see Santa pics yet, regardless of your kids' age. Ugh.

I would love to be able to find & chop my own tree. What a great tradition!
We usually don't bust out the decorations until December--but I go old school and leave them up through the full Twelve Days of Christmas so I get plenty of time with them :P
I get my Christmas on early by making some gifts and by baking stuff and putting it in the freezer...well, most of it.
Sometimes me tree is up the weekend before Thanksgiving sometimes that weekend after just depends on my mood. I LOVE Christmas and have already listened to some Christmas music AND watched a cheesy Christmas Hallmark or Lifetime movie

It doesn't bother me to see Christmas decorations up now, but we won't put our tree up and break out the decor until the day after Thanksgiving. When I was a kid, my mom didn't put the tree up until a week before Christmas because she was lazy like that. I hated having to wait that long.
It was nice out here this weekend, so we have a lot of that around here too. DH said if he'd had time he would have hung ours, but I told him he isn't allowed to hang them up until after Thanksgiving.
That said, boom, as soon as turkey day is over, I'm hanging Christmas decor!
If you live somewhere with cold weather, I don't think it is a big deal to put up your decorations before it gets freezing out. Just don't turn them on.

We rented a house in the mountains of NC last Christmas with my family. We cut down our own tree for the first time. It was awesome! Highly recommend that you do it with the kids at least once.

In FL, hell no. Wait until after the turkey ffs.
I agree, up and not on, is ok. The people on my street have a gorgeous wreath on their door, an adorable vintage wagon with mums & such and then an entire house of BLUE fuvcking lights! NO NO NO
SS: I am in Canada. Thanksgiving was a month ago dudes.
yeesssssss!!!! Same here. But a bunch of my FB friends made me feel all guilty about putting my tree up because of Remembrance Day... so I still don't have it up. This weekend though!!!

I see people put it up and I really get the urge to leave them a note explaining the rules. if you want to put up your light ahead of time that's fine but DO NOT turn them on or get your tree before, fine, but again DO NOT display it with the lights on! see I can be reasonable
Re: To respect the Turkey...or not? A CP for this fine monday.
