What kind of snacks are you guys giving the babies these days? Dd snacks on cereal mostly. She likes the goldfish crackers but she could really take em or leave em. We use fruit as part of her breakfast and as dessert so I'm looking for other ideas other than that. I'm not a sugar prude so it doesn't have to be off limits. I came across those Grips at the store the other day and I think she will like those. They have different kinds like Cheez its, graham crackers and cookies. The cookies wouldn't be offered unless it was an emergency. Would you buy the Grips? If you don't know what they are, they're small bags of crackers and such and they are super tiny.
Re: Snacks?
Personally, no, I wouldn't.
Currently, snacks are fruits or vegetables (namely, celery or carrot sticks), applesauce, fruit leather, dehydrated apple chips, coconut yogurt or popcorn. I don't recommend popcorn, but it's what my boys like.
We aren't sugar-limiting either, but I offer these options first.
We don't keep crackers, candy or cookies in the house. O's allergies wouldn't allow him to eat them anyways.
No. They're not supposed to... that's why I said that I don't recommend it. That being said, both of my boys eat it.
They have dehydrated fruit packs (apples, apples with cinnamon and strawberry/banana) at Costco... They also sell a HUGE bag of dehydrated apple chips.
Where do you find coconut yogurt????
Our grocery store has an extensive natural foods section that includes many of the alternatives. It's available at our grocery store. I am pretty sure you could find it at a Whole Foods.
Have you searched for natural foods grocery stores in your local big city?
We mostly do fruit (sorry, I know that's no help), and I occasionally bust out the Goldfish crackers. Cheese and yogurt (and any dairy, really) are also big hit in our house.
Shando would Pirates Booty make her as happy as popcorn?? It makes ME happy!
I alternate fruit, dairy and carbs. Dd eats a lot of snacks.
For portables (since we're out a lot) I do applesauce pouches, fruit leather, graham crackers, raisin boxes.
I actually bought those cheezeit grips the other day for me and dd has definitely stolen her share. Ill admit I don't do much yogurt because I'm lazy and she makes a mess. Maybe it's time for go gurt or whatever that nasty stuff is.
Oh, really? Hmm. DD has seven. She probably only had five last time I tried giving her an apple, and she seemed like she was choking and not chewing enough before swallowing. You give me hope, though, I think it's time to try again. Thanks!
I'm not sure how much of the apple he actually eats, but he loves biting into it and chewing it!
We are limited because DD still only has her front 4 teeth, so we won't do raisins or craisins or anything like that. We are big on Teddy Grahams here, and they come in GoPaks which are great for the diaper bag. She also likes applesauce, Goldfish, string cheese, fruit, and she still likes puffs, which are also diaper bag friendly. NutriGrain bars are a favorite, and we usually get the store brand. Gerber makes their own version but the adult ones have less sugar and are cheaper!
Edit: I forgot Jello. She sees it coming and it's like Christmas the way she lights up.
thanks for the tip. I picked up sme of the fruit packs today. A bit pricey, but a big hit.
