I see a lot of posts about whether or not insurance will cover Mirena. Just curious...why is it even an option to not cover it? I don't understand why its arbitrary.
I just checked and it looks like my insurance doesnt cover it which totally sucks!! Its crazy to me that its not covered
I guess the way I was reading it, some people are waiting to see whether their insurance will cover Mirena FOR THEM or not. I guess I could kind of understand it if the plan didn't cover Mirena for ANYONE. Maybe I read it wrong??
well i think its something about your employer as well if part of your insurance is paid by your employer, thats why it would vary person to person/ plan to plan...
Some insurance carriers only cover BC in it's generic form. However, there are a lot of BCs that don't have a generic yet. Nuva Ring, Mirena, etc. A company cannot put out a generic of a medicine until the patent expires and that usually takes anywhere from 5-25 years (from what I've heard...I'm nowhere near an expert on this. I do life insurance, not health/medical) However, with the recent changes to the healthcare laws, some insurance companies have already started to cover non-generic BC because in a year or so all carriers are required to cover all forms of BC. (Again, from what I understand...I might be mistaken on some of the details)
