Hey, all! My DH and I are at an impasse with our boys name.
His name will be Cody Douglas but my DH doesn't like the spelling of Cody and would like it to be spelled Coty. I would like it to have the "d" in it still.
I am thinking "Codey" or "Codi" (Not sure I really like either all that much)
Can others please give me more alternate spellings?
Re: Alternate spellings for Cody
Coty is a different name than Cody (at least in my opinion).
If he hates the D I would go with Coty, I am NOT a fan of "youneek" spellings of names like the versions you suggested.

Sigh.. I probably should have stated in my original post that keeping the name spelled CODY isn't an option for us. My DH is totally against it. So either we spell the name differently or use a different one. Which is much more trouble than just finding an alternate spelling that works for us...
I think I will end up picking the spelling I like the best and be done with it.
At this point, I think that's all you can do. Unfortunately the majority of us were "Cody's" all the way. Pick whatever one makes you happy. Let us know which you choose.
Also, why is the hubby totally against the Cody spelling?
I'm not exactly sure. One of his friends is named Coty and he prefers that spelling. I liked it at first but now it bothers me that it doesn't flow as nicely with Douglas. Also, if we spell Coty that way then we would have to change the spelling of our next boy otherwise they would look dumb together.
I also have a name that is changed from the classic spelling and don't care for names with the classic spelling because of it. That being said, I much prefer to keep the spelling Cody but I'm also not against alternate spellings (just not Coty, I am against that one...)
Ha, I'm excited to hear who wins the naming debate. My husband and I are currently having our naming wars, so I feel your pain. We have a girl name ready to go, but for some reason we cannot decide on a boy name. We have one that we both love (and keep coming back to) but we don't like the nickname they could get out of it. Ha!
Cody isnt a name that can be changed without making it feminine or just plain silly. Think about the man that you are going to name, not just the cute little boy. This 40 year old will have to put Codey or Coti or whatever on his resume for the rest of his life. Changing spellings dosent always make it special or unique, sometimes it just dosent make sense.
Also, for what its worth, my brother is a Cody. He is now 21 and actually dislikes his name, he is says that it is babyish and cutesy. He is in college and going into the professional world, and he now goes by his first name, David. Luckily, my parents gave him the cutesy name as a middle name and he has an "adult" name to fall back on now that he isnt a little boy.
please spell it the right way. Cody. All of your other spellings are not good at all.
I see Coty as Cot-ee, not Cody. and with Codey there is no reason for the extra e.
my read shelf:
Hmm... I never thought of Cody being a "cutesy, little boys name" but maybe DH did and that is why he doesn't like it.
So I have been looking online for other possible names...
I have Chandler or Cayden so far... I like Cayden but I think it is too close to our 2nd boys name (Cadence). Although we might change the 2nd boys name to Cayden because I think I like it better than Cadence...
The other name I kind of like is Cary.
PLEASE feel free to suggest other names! It needs to start with a C and go well with the middle name of Douglas... Our last name is Cameron if that helps as well.

This is the only acceptable alternative spelling I see. I think Coty looks like a different name...and Codi looks like a girl's name.
This.
I would choose a different name at this point, but you need to do whatever is right for you.
Like pp, if I saw the name Coty I would pronounce it Cotty. Sorry...I think it will be confusing if you start messing around with the spelling.
When DH and I were at a standstill with names last time around, we just started over.

We like the CC initials. My initials are CC and I have gotten sooooo many compliments on it lol. We just decided we wanted our boys' names to start with C.
I like Chandler. Not common, and a good name. I think it goes well with Douglas. Carson does too, I think.
I wouldnt worry much about the second boy's name. You have no idea if you will ever have one. But I like Cayden better for a boy, Cadence is a girl's name to me.
Oh wow that is the worst spelling ever. I agree with PPs that if you can't spell it Cody I would go with another name. The other spellings are silly looking.
Alternate boy names:
Camden David
Carson David
Caden David
Craiger David
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. If I think of others I will edit.
This.

I definitely agree that Cody sounds little-boy-ish. I can't picture a CEO or a Senator named Cody, you know?

This. I am not a fan of the new trend to spell things differently but keep the pronunciation the same. You are basically setting up your child to have a name that will always be spelled wrong, because you have complicated it. What's the point?
I'm with cmoosey...while it's great to plan ahead I wouldn't worry about a second boys name yet if you're having trouble with the first name...or why not use the second boys name if you can agree on it??? Unless you're having twins. Good luck!
Oh boy.
Cody is the only way to spell Cody, all of your other spellings look silly.
Cayden is awful and looks girly. Caden would be the only way of spelling it that would be okay but it's NMS and very trendy.
Cadence is straight up a girls name. Please don't use it on a boy.
Chandler is good and not so common. I like it.
