Adoption

Who has read "In On It"?

And is it worthwhile for IA or just DIA? I am contemplating getting it for each member of our families for Christmas... Obv I am going to read it first, but I wanted to get some thoughts from unbiased readers. :)

Re: Who has read "In On It"?

  • I recommend it.  Gave it to my mom and MIL, they just skipped the part on IA, since it didn't apply to them.  I also had my BF read some sections because I was tired of the questions I was getting about the EM.

  • I bought it and didn't really like it for IA. It was "okay," it just didn't really fit our situation, and I didn't end up passing it on. We were VERY private during the entire process and didn't share until we were almost ready to travel though, so all of the information about what (not) to say/do during the wait wasn't really appropriate for us, etc.
  • i read it and thought it was great! we bought a copy for our immediate family members and gifted them to them when we announced our decision to adopt. they were all excited to read it!
  • I really liked it, bought a copy for each of our parents while going through the process!
  • I bought and read it after my adoption was complete because I was trying to find a way to inform individuals who knew the entire story (not my choice, but when things are local it sometimes happens that way) that some things are private and should not be discussed with anyone they just happened to meet. I really liked their section on privacy. I passed it along to my preacher who has given it out to some individuals in the church. It was a short read and pretty inexpensive, I would at least read it your self and see what you think.

Mother of two wonderful boys! Blessed through adoption.

  • Thanks everyone. I bought it so I can see what I think... it will probably be useful, even if only a little bit. :)
