Hey, all! My DH and I are at an impasse with our boys name.
His name will be Cody Douglas but my DH doesn't like the spelling of Cody and would like it to be spelled Coty. I would like it to have the "d" in it still.
I am thinking "Codey" or "Codi" (Not sure I really like either all that much)
Can others please give me more alternate spellings?

Re: Alternate spellings for Cody
I'm not sure there are alternate spellings for Cody, without it looking completely bizarre or feminine. Plus, your son would spend his life having to spell it for everyone, if it's spelled differently.
I could be wrong, but I really don't see you getting many suggestions for an alternate spelling on TB.... lol. I'd check out some of the baby naming websites, I'm sure there are many interesting variations out there that people have come up with.
My son had a little boy in his preschool class named Cody but it was spelled Kohdie. That's definitely....... alternative.

I think ya'll might be right about not finding very many alternate spellings... I checked out quite a few websites and they only gave me: Codaye, Codi, Codie, Codey or Coty.
Oh well, I will just pick the name I like the best and hope DH goes for it.
Behind the name lists these variations:
Codie, Coty, Kodey, and Kody
but I'm not fond of any of them. I would just use Cody.
Coty is completely unacceptable. Just atrocious.
Codi looks like a girl's name from the 80's. And Codey is no good, either.
Stick with Cody.
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.
So I have been looking online for other possible names...
I have Chandler or Cayden so far. I like Cayden but I think it is too close to our 2nd boys name (Cadence). Although we might change the 2nd boys name to Cayden because I think I like it better than Cadence...
The other name I would be ok with is Cary.
PLEASE feel free to suggest other names! It needs to start with a C and go well with the middle name of Douglas... Our last name is Cameron if that helps as well.
Maybe you could use Colby instead?

Coty is horrendus! If you don't spell it correctly, pick another name. That is just God-awful. There are plenty of good C names that would go with you DS's name... Carter, Cooper, Colton, Cole, etc.
Coty? Seriously? You definitely need to use your veto power on that one, my dear. If he absolutely doesn't like Cody (which is the normal spelling), then maybe Kody, but any further deviation from the normal spelling just gives off the I'm-trying-really-hard-to-be-unique vibe.
Just my 2 cents!
I'm really confused by the whole second boy name thing..?
My favorite C names for boys are Carter, Carson, Connor, Casey, Chase, Christian, Colton, Cole, Clayton, Charles/Charlie

AEN, I think she is having twins. Took me a second to figure it out, too. But she's got two tickers.
And OMG why didnt I think of Charles/Charlie?! LOVE.

OH! lol I'm so used to seeing the little twin ticker markers when there is twins. I see. In that case, Cadence and Cayden are way too matchy.
I love Charles/Charlie, too, but DH has a bad association so we won't use it. =( It's a great name!
I have heard of the name Cadence before but only for females.
I don't think there are "alternative spellings" for Cody, only misspellings.
I also would think girl if I saw Cadence - I am not wild about Cayden, but at least it's usually used as a boy name. I also like Caleb for a boy. Probably too close to Cayden/Cadence, but it would be an alternative if you are looking for more ideas.
I would either use Cody or pick a different name.
Coty, Codey and Codi are all really bizarre looking spellings.
We can't use it either. Linus and Charlie Brown! So many darn good names out of the running because of Peanuts!

Codaye? That's not even pronounced the same.
And to the bolded, that's always a great plan of action

Haha! Yes! I saw your post about Lucille. I LOVE the name Lucy, but I don't think you'd ever live down the Peanuts reference!
Cadence is feminine. It is 279 in rank for girls. I don't really care for using boy names on girls or girl names on boys.
If your LN is Cameron then you may want to consider a FN that has a soft c sounds or a CH sound like Chandler.
C names I like are: Callum, Colton, Chester, Colum/Colm, Conall, Corbin, and Crispin.
I'm partial to Cary myself.

Sorry, I didn't get to this til just now because I got busy yesterday
No I'm not having twins. Sorry the first and second boy is confusing. I say "first" boy and "second" boy because my FIL's name is Douglas and he is a soldier fighting in Afghanistan so I would like to honor him by using the name Douglas as a middle name. Our "second" son will honor my step-dad who took me in as his own and showed me a real father's love after my biological father abandoned me. His name is Bradley and it will be the middle name of our second son.
What's the big deal about using Caden (we nixed Cadence as a boys name after ALOT of persuasion from me) Bradley first? My FIL is currently defending his country in Afghanistan and I would like to honor him first! Especially because he comes home right around the time Baby will be born.
After talking things over with my DH he doesn't want to use Douglas as a middle name at all now so we will use the initial D. It's not as nice as Douglas imo, but hey, its his dad so as long as I get to use the full name Bradley to honor my dad I really can't say too much.
We may just have a girl this time and then it won't matter at all. I'm half hoping for that but I think it will be a boy. Anyway, sorry for the confusion.
