Over the last week or so, DD is becoming impossible to feed. We EFF, and have used Similac Advanced, and Tommee Tippee bottles since I stopped BFing (about 2w PP) and she's never had an issue before.
Lately, she'll act as though she's starving, displaying all hunger cues, opening her mouth, turning her head, smacking her lips, fussing, crying, etc. I feed on demand, both because she's so young, and she's going through her 6 week growth spurt, and she's eating the suggested number of ounces per day based on her weight. When we attempt to feed her, she'll refuse to 'latch' onto the nipple, and makes a face like she's disgusted (like the formula tastes horrible or something). However, if we pull the bottle away for a minute, she screams, again, like she's starving. But when we offer the bottle again, we get a similar reaction. We go through this for several minutes before she'll begin eating, and several more times throughout the feeding.
She's always arched her back during feedings, but it looked more like stretching than anything painful, but now I'm starting to wonder if maybe she has reflux? She doesn't always spit up following feedings, and when she does, it's only a tiny bit.
I guess I'm just at a loss here. I'm not sure what's going on. Does anyone else have experience with this? Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA!
Re: Feeding my kid is like fighting a war...help!
I know my child has nothing to do with yours, but Millie does the exact same thing when she's tired. Don't ask me why she acts starving when she just wants to sleep, but if I've offered her food and she keeps refusing or only eating for a bit, I'll use HBOTB and she usually falls asleep pretty quickly.

Glad to know mine isn't the only one! She acts like she is starving to death especially when she is overtired. So she really no longer has reliable hunger cues.
Mine does it too... at this point I consider it a crapshoot. I just take guesses and also pay attention to see if she yawns or her eyes are kind of closing or anything.
However, I have found that when he starts making his hunger cues, I can usually tell if he's truly hungry by checking his rooting reflex. I'll stroke his cheek and if he goes for the finger, he's hungry. Otherwise he just continues fussing. Hth
Sometimes, I'm hilarious.
This is us too with bfing, I sometimes think he is hungry and giving those cues but given the boob he starts flailing and wigging. Once we switch to soothing to sleep he usually passes out
